"Don't worry, I trust you....sort of." He nervously laughed to himself.
"Okay, this may seem awkward, but I'm going to need to carry you in my arms. I don't think it would be to comfortable to climb on my back and try to hang on the whole time." I smiled trying to make it seem effortless. I didn't want him to be scared, one because the monster side of me basically gets turned on by fear, and two because I want him to trust me. I want to do something good.
"Let's do this." He said taking a deep breath. I picked him up, and it was very easy. He didn't seem to be heavy to me. I smiled and took off. I wasn't sure how I knew the way out, but it could just be instinct.
"When are we going to stop?" He asked while we were running through some dense woods. I wanted to avoid people as mush as I possibly could.
"When we get close to Washington. I need to talk to my old family about the information I learned today. They might want to ask you questions so I'm going to need you to promise me that you will answer them truthfully." I looked down at him and waited for his answer. Unbelievably, I was running at the same time, and I didn't run into any trees or anything. Sweetness!
He sighed and nodded. I smiled and kept running. Then I heard something familiar, but it wasn't something that happened to me any more. His stomach growled. I chuckled to myself.
"You're hungry. You want me to stop so you can get something?" I asked.
"I don't want to stop. I can eat at your place. Just keep running. How much longer do you think it will take?" He asked. I frowned at him. He needed to eat.
"Well, I can tell we aren't in the south anymore. It got colder about thirty minutes ago. We might need to stop anyway to get you a jacket. Then you can get some food and something to drink. And while you do that, I'll do the same." He looked confused. Ugh. I didn't want to explain this.
"I have to feed; otherwise I won't be able to keep my promise. Don't worry I won't kill a human, I'll get a deer or something." I said a little too harshly.
"Oh, I forgot about that." He mumbled. I laughed.
"WE are running faster than a race car and possibly a jet, and you forgot I was a vampire?" I laughed again.
"Well, you just don't seem like a vampire. Vampires are mean and they kill people." He said grimacing.
"Not all vampires are evil. I know a whole family of good vampires. I'm not sure about other vampires, but I'm sure they aren't all bad." I said calmly. He smiled and nodded in agreement.
When I was done feeding and he was done shopping for a jacket, we went to a small fast food restaurant, McDonalds.
"Before I go in, I got you some clothes. I hope I got your style right. From what I saw in the pictures, you seemed a little dark." He smiled at me and handed me a bag. I studied him for a moment then reached into the bag and pulled out a pair of dark blue jeans, a Eyes Set To Kill tee shirt, and a pair of socks and converse. I smiled.
"Thanks. How much money do you have anyway?" I asked curiously.
"I get paid for my....ex job." He grinned at me and I went behind a tall bush looking thing and changed. Surprisingly enough the clothes fit. The shoes, however, were a little too big.
"Looks like the clothes fit." He said. I'm assuming he was trying to start a conversation with me, but the only thing I wanted to know right now was pretty much everything that could harm or bug a Vampire.
"How long have we been we, or you I should say, been running?" He asked as we walked through the McDonalds door. The smell of grease and fries filled my nose. I smiled at my old memories of eating fast food with Kayla. She would always through salty fries at me and I would squirt her with ketchup, then we would get kicked out, but that was Wendy's, not McDonalds, although I'm sure she would do the same here.
