Relationships were struggling all over town as the secrets that people had thought were safe, began to unravel and everyone realised that their friends weren't really their friends. Justin had Jessica back and they were working on their own relationship but he couldn't help but worry about Clay; who ever since his questioning at the police station, had been acting more weird than normal. It was as if he knew something that no one else did but he didn't want to tell anyone because he didn't want them to get caught up in his drama.
Zach had begun to cut his ties with his friends as he didn't want to be involved with any of them anymore; he knew what he had done and that his secret was going to be discovered sooner or later, which was why he was cutting his ties. He didn't want to get his friends involved in the mess that he had created; he knew that the next person to cut off was the most important and he didn't know how he was going to do it but he couldn't disappoint her as well.
However, Lily had no idea that her boyfriend was feeling this way because ever since they had made up, he had been trying to act as normal as possible around her. The rest of her friends noticed his strange behaviour but it was as if she was trying to ignore it because she didn't want to add it to her growing list of problems. Instead of dealing with her boyfriend, she wanted to talk to Justin because they hadn't had a proper conversation about the secrets that they had and she decided that it was time for them to talk.
She spotted him at his locker, he was in deep thought about something because he didn't even notice her when she walked next to him. It was only when she knocked on the lockers next to him that he snapped out of his daydream, turning to see who had interrupted him and putting a small smile on his face when he recognised her.
"What's up?" He asked, turning back to his locker to take out his textbooks.
"Can we talk? Like, about everything?"
"Sure, but do you want to do it here? I could meet you somewhere?"
She glanced over her shoulder, realising that talking about their secrets in the middle of the hallway probably wasn't the smartest idea. "Monet's, after school?"
When the school day ended, Lily rushed to get to the café as quickly as she could because she was desperate to have this conversation. She had been putting it off for months but now that the trial was over and they were possibly going to be in trouble for a murder, she needed answers as soon as possible. If not, then things would just be more complicated than ever before and she didn't think she could cope with that.
She had only been sat at the table for a few minutes when the bell rang and Justin appeared, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jacket as he pulled out the chair opposite her. He looked slightly nervous, as if he had been waiting for this conversation to happen too; but maybe he didn't know exactly what she was going to say and that was what was bothering him.
"So, what's the problem?"
"You told me about the night of the Winter Formal, that you were the only other person to know and that you wouldn't ever tell anyone-"
