Yamaguchi's POV
I gather my stuff and make my way out of the class with my head hung low. Not sure if it was embarrassment or shame. For what, I don't know.
I get to my locker and spin in the code opening it up and putting my books in. I close it and turn around to see tsukki standing there looking off down the hallway.
"Hi tsukki!" I say. He turns towards me but dosent say anything. He just starts to walk off towards our lunch spot.
"Um...wait up tsukki I have to use the bathroom!" I shout. He looks back towards me and nods.
I run across the hallway and into the bathroom. I check under the stalls to make sure I'm all alone. I lean over the sink and start to take deep breaths.
Dose tsukki know I like him? Can other people tell? Will tsukki still be friends with me? Should I just tell him now? Will suga tell anyone else? What will everyone say?
The deep breaths we're picking up pace and quickly turning to hyperventilation. Tears were threatening to show, poking at the back of my eyes.
"Yamaguchi let's go." I hear tsukki yell from we're he is standing outside the bathroom entrance.
"Coming tsukki!" I yell back in a hoarse voice. I wipe my eyes on the back of my hands and stand back up straight.
I take one more deep breath and slowly make my way out of the bathroom.
"Are you ok?"tsukki asked though there was no emotion in his voice. Did he even care?
"Yeah, of course tsukki!"I answer trying to hide the ball in the back of my throat and choke down my salty tears.
Tsukki just gives me a skeptical look but dosent push, just dose a small nod and turns towards the direction of the cafeteria.
Tsukki walks down the hall, me in tow with my lunch. We take our seats and start to eat. I don't say much most of lunch but listen in on the conversations of the other players at the table.
It's mostly just hinita and kageama arguing and tsukki making comments and insults every once in a while.
'I might actually get away with this' I think as I eat the last of my lunch. I just need to stay calm. I'm over reacting.
"Hay yamaguchi how come you left practice early?" Hinita asks in his energetic voice, practically bouncing in his seat.
"Yeah right after you and suga talked." Kageama adds in oh so not helpfully. Great.
I look up to see the first years looking at me. I gulp, swallowing down my nerves and panic.
"Oh...um...I-it was nothing really." I look up to see there reaction, hoping they buy it and move on.
Tsukki looks like he wants to say more but hinita starts yelling before he can, cutting off any comments he could of made.
"Come practice with me and kageama later!" He yells, looking like he is about to explode from excitement.
"Oh no really it's fine."I say trying to calm him down and play off the situation. I could get past this.
"Why don't you come over to my house so we can practice. Since you left early and you need help on serving." That same deep voice fills my ears.
I go over to tsukki's all the time but he has never once offered to help me outside of practice and never with my serves.
"Y-yeah sure." I say trying to hide how happy him asking makes me. Why the sudden change? Why are we practicing together now?
I look over at hinita and he looks even more excited, if that's even possible. I swear this boy is living on caffeine or something.
"What can I come!" Hinita yells, drawing the attention of more than half the lunch room.
"No."tsukki deadpans. It looks like hinita physically deflated. He's like a dog. A small orange puppy.
"We can just practice together dumbass!" Kageama yells at hinita, hitting the back of his head with his hand.
"But I wanted to practice with yamaguchi!" Hinita whines, rubbing at where he was slapped. Kageama looks hurt a little but I can see he is trying to let it not show, instead putting on a grumpy indifferent look.
"Whatever!" Kageama yells back, looking over to the side refusing to look at Hinita. Ya know, like a child.
"There at it again."tsukki says then rolls his eyes. The bell rings again signaling the end of lunch.
I'm going to tsukki's to practice. I smile. I'm going to tsukki's to practice! I freak out.
