"If Lucas was alive, we could be in the same class." I thought aloud as I walked into kindergarten. 

I made plenty of friends and one of my closet guy friends was there when I lost my first tooth. In the afternoons I'd go to our favorite place to talk, and I'd talk about my day. 

"I wish you could hear what I'm saying." I'd say.

"I can, I'm right here." He would sit there near the fence like we used too and listen to my stories. 

Slowly I stopped coming back. I was so little and I didn't know what any of this meant. 

This was the year my neighbors had another little boy.
