As soon as the mother daughter duo left the house, Jung Soo started thinking what he will do for the rest of the day alone. He thought to start his day from cleaning the house. While he was doing so, his mind occasionally wandered to the house he used to live in as an idol. It was so much big comparatively and Shimkoong, she was so small at the time. He ran away in such urgency that he didn't even get to take a look back at his own house. He thought what kind of people would be living in there now or where Shimkoong would be. Is she adopted by any good family or is she in dog care house? Is she even alive? He shuddered at that thought.
He noticed that he has completed cleaning and was going to take a bath when his eyes fell on the door of the closed room, the secret room. He hadn't visited that room since ages so he decided to enter. In front of the room, he stood and took a long breathe before he opened the door. All the memories came rushing down to his mind and tears formed in his eyes as soon as he saw inside the room. The room was filled with his memories as a member of Super Junior. From his trainee days to their debut and their journey of togetherness till he decided to let them go, disband them. Every time he think of the night he announced this news, he can only blame himself and feel disgusted towards himself. The wall opposite to the door was filled with their most famous lyrics with its choreography. On the top, in bold and capital was written THE LAST MAN STANDING. He had promised to keep them bonded and bounded till the last but he was the one who broke it.
The left wall was filled with the achievements of the members post disbandment. All of them have excelled in whatever they did all the while enjoying their lives. He was happy for each one of them. He could have cried rivers for some more time if he hadn't heard the doorbell ringing furiously. He got up from the floor, looked at the clock and thought who could it be. He opened the door to see a deliveryman standing with lots of parcel bags. He was surprised and thought that the boy could have come to the wrong address so, he said " I didn't order anything. I think you are at the wrong address." The boy sighed, took out a piece of paper and asked " are you Park Jung Soo-shi?" He nodded in confusion. The boy then said " someone named Heemi had ordered this for you."
He thought for a second, then remembered that Hee Chul had said before going that he had ordered delivery. He took in everything and closed the door. He looked inside packages and found groceries worth the whole month and some instant food, etc. Since, he was very tired from cleaning and crying, he decided to settle down for some instant ramen and sausages and have a bath after that.
As he was eating, he thought what his love and daughter would be doing now. Are they getting together well or not? Other such thoughts ran in his mind while he finished his food. As he was done with the dishes, he received a call. He wasn't someone who would receive calls so, he was a bit startled but then he saw it was from his boss, so he immediately answered. The caller on the line ordered him to be at the restaurant tomorrow without any excuses and that due to some emergencies, his leave was being cancelled. Now, he could only think about how to tell the news to the two people who will come back home in some time. He works hard whole year so, he can take a week long holiday during Christmas to spend with his daughter.
With this thought he went for a bath and then got ready to prepare the dinner. Since, it was Christmas night and he also got his love back, he thought to prepare a majestic dinner. Also, he had ingredients to do so because apparently, his love has ordered a lot for them. He baked a simple cake with lots of chocolate because both Hee Chul and Heemi loves chocolates. He then prepared some pork dishes and chicken ginger stew with Khimchi rice and some easy to make seafood side dishes.
By the time he finished, he could her someone giggling on the other side of the door. He guessed who it could be and opened the door even before the people on the other side could ring the doorbell. What he saw shocked him. Both of their hands were full of packages. He looked at Hee Chul as if asking why did he do so much. Before he could actually put it into words, he was hugged tightly by his daughter who was very happy. He bent down and hugged her back. She whispered in his ears " appa, you were so rich before, your home is so beautiful. It's not like I mind living here but it is so posh." He was startled and looked at his love again who just smilingly said "remember, we are the last man standing. We just couldn't let your things go after you left so we bought the house. Also,....." Before he could complete his sentence, they all heard a barking.
He let the dog down from the bag he was carrying and out of it came a healthy and happy Shimkoong. She just barked happily in front of him, waged her tail furiously and kept licking him. Hee Chul continue " though you knew everything about me, you still might not have known that I legally adopted her. She was very quiet all these years. At the place of her stay, there is a photo of you both and she just kept looking at it and licking it sometimes. She was a very trained and good dog." Jung Soo just looked at his dog proudly, lifted her up and said " you were a good dog darling. I love you so much and I missed you as well. " With that he hugged her. Both the master and the pet were happy to be in each others embrace.
This was the best Christmas gift he could ever ask for but what he didn't know was that this was just the beginning of the storm he was going to face. He told to both of them to sit down for dinner as he has prepared something for them and then served everything he had made. They had a happy family dinner, after which his daughter went to play with his dog. Then he remembered that he had to tell them something. He was worried this time but he had no choice.
He then called all of them warmly in the living room and prepared himself "I have something to say and that is I received a call from hotel and I will have to go back to work tomorrow on wards. I am really sorry, I didn't want it to happen this way but I can't do something against it." He sobbed quietly as he completed but he felt two hands covering him so he looked up and saw his daughter. She hugged and said " it's okay appa. I can stay at home all day with eomma and Koongie, you go to work and don't worry about me. Also, tomorrow evening I am going to meet the kids of uncles and aunts. " She let go of him to cover her nose as she yawned. Though he was little confused at what she said, he decided to tuck her in bed first and then ask Hee Chul about everything that had happened.
He took her to the bed and made her sleep. Since she didn't want to let go of Shimkoong, he made both of them sleep together on the bed. After that he came out to see Hee Chul laying down on the sofa, playing with his hair strands. He thought how to approach him and finally went down to sit beside him on the floor. Both of them were quiet for a few minutes and stared into each others eyes.
Hee Chul broke the silence first saying " I just wanted to take her to my home because I needed to change my clothes but she found Shimkoong over there and both of them loved each other. Then she saw your photo with it and was curious about who you were and so I decided to take her to your home. She was surprised to see it and she loved it. Then, along with Koongie, we went for a lunch and I must say, you raised her to be a mannered girl. Then we went shopping and we both enjoyed the day. At the evening, I took her to meet her uncles and aunts and all of them loved her. They are just annoyed with me because they thought that I would bring you along with me but they didn't complain her existence and pampered her with lots of love and gifts and food before we came back. They also asked me what you do for living and I lied saying I didn't get a chance to ask you that and when they asked if I confronted you, they knew the answer and so, I didn't have to answer them. "
By the time he finished, he saw his love sobbing lightly with his head deep inside the couch. Though he was very thankful towards Hee Chul because of so many things, he also felt guilty towards him. Both of them hugged each other for a long time with a comfortable silence this time, unless Jung Soo stopped crying.
Then, Jung Soo took the hands of Hee Chul and led him to the room of secrets. He opened the door and let him in saying "you can stay here all you want" before going to the bathroom and break down completely.
As soon as he was alone there, his eyes wandered in all directions. He was now, not very sure of his plan. All the things made him think that even though he was no more their leader, he still cared for them like their leader.
