Chapter 47

Dahlia's POV

Dumbledore had requested for myself and Harry to join him at the Tower, so that is where we were currently off to, I don't understand why I've been asked to join since I haven't taken part in any of these 'quests' that Dumbledore has been setting Harry all year round, I noticed Harry desperate to say something,

"What is it, Harry?" I sighed as I came to a stop, he did too and stare at me with wide eyes,

"W-What do you mean? Nothing" He stuttered earning a raised eyebrow, he sighed and hung his head, "I hate that you can read me so well..." He trailed off which I replied with an eye roll,

"I'm not going to wait all day for this" I asserted, he muttered something, "What?" I asked,

"I kissed Ginny" He confessed,

"When?" I questioned,

"When we went to get rid of the Half-Blood Prince's book, in the Room of Requirements" He answered, my jaw clenched as did my fists "I'm so s-"

"Save it. We're done, for good" I growled, removing the promise ring and throwing it at his feet before barging passed him, shaking my head catching a glimpse of the streaks of red and blue in my hair, I got to the bottom of the staircase and took a deep breath to calm myself down before meeting with Dumbledore, Harry had caught up with me, so we made our way up, we had almost reached the top when Snape came down, he stopped momentarily, looked at us then continued on his way, I raised an eyebrow but shrugged as we reach the top, Dumbledore was stood looking over the school before turning to us,

"Dahlia, Harry" Dumbledore greeted as he turned to face us, "You need a shave, my friend" He commented and Harry felt his chin making me smirk,

"Told you" I muttered,

"You know, at times, I forget how much you've grown. Both of you. I still see the small boy from under the cupboard, and the small girl who's incredibly gifted" Dumbledore stated making my smirk drop as I lowered my head slightly, "Forgive my mawkishness. I'm an old man" He commented,

"You still look the same to us, sir" Harry replied as I nodded in agreement,

"Just like your Mothers, you're unfailingly kind. A trait people never fail to undervalue. I'm afraid the place we journey tonight is extremely dangerous. I promised you could accompany me and I stand by that promise, but there's one condition; you must obey every command I give you, without question" He demanded, we both nodded

"Yes sir" We replied in unison,

"You do understand what I'm saying. Should I tell you to hide, you hide. Should I tell you to run, you run. Should I tell you to abandon me and save yourselves, you must do so. Your word" He commented,

"My word" We asserted in unison,

"Take my arm" He ordered, we did so and he apparated us to a cave making me raise an eyebrow as I looked around, we approached a dead end, "This is the place. Oh yes. This place has known magic" Dumbledore muttered before he pulled out a knife and cut his hand,

"Sir!" Harry exclaimed,

"In order to gain passage, payment must be made. Payment intended to weaken any intruders" He explained,

"You should've allowed me" I retorted,

"No. Your bloods are more precious than mine" He replied before wiping his hand on the wall and a passage opening, "Voldemort would not have made it easy to discover his hiding place. He will have put certain defences in position. Careful" Dumbledore informed us as we came to a water front, he sent an orb of light over and it stopped above a small crystallised island, "There it is" He asserted,

"And exactly how do we get over there?" I asked, he stepped towards the water and a chain flew out, he caught it before passing it to Harry and myself,

"If you would" He replied before Harry and I began pulling on the chain, eventually we pulled a small boat up and boarded it, we headed over to the small island and approach a podium of sorts in the middle of the island,

"Do you think the Horcrux is in there, sir?" Harry asked making me raise an eyebrow,

"Horcruxes? That's what Voldemort's using?" I asked, the two of them nodded,

"Wait, how do you know what a Horcrux is?" Harry questioned,

"Now's not the time. It has to be drunk" Dumbledore intruded,

"I'll do it" I announced,

"No. Do you remember the conditions on which I brought you with me?" He asked, we both nodded, "This potion might paralyse me. Might make me forget why I'm here. Might cause so much pain that I beg for relief. You're not to indulge these requests. It's your job Harry, to make sure I keep drinking this potion. Dahlia, you are to make sure no harm comes to any of us. Understood?" Dumbledore ordered, we both nodded

"Why can't I drink it sir?" I questioned,

"Because I am much older, much cleverer and much less valuable. You're in good health, both of you" He retorted before having the first mouth of the potion, he began to violently shake and groan,

"Professor!" Harry exclaimed,

"Harry, the potion" I ordered,

"But-"

"Now Potter!" I snapped, he began on doing so as I sat Dumbledore down, Harry made several journeys back and forth until he returned with a locket, Salazar Slytherin's locket to be precise,

"Harry water. Water" Dumbledore pleaded as the light orb began to fade, I stood up withdrawing my wand

"Lumos" I jinxed as the orb disappeared, I noticed Harry going towards the waters edge before I heard splashing making me turn slightly and see creatures coming out of the water making my eyes widen, then Harry was pulled in "Harry!" I exclaimed as I was debating what to do, protect Dumbledore or go in after him, I took a deep breath as I put my wand away, I closed my eyes as I sense the creatures come closer before letting out a scream, letting all my anger out, as magic flowed out making the creatures either be flung back into the water or fall to the ground letting out some agonised noises, Harry resurfaced and got on to the island, coughing and grunting then helping Dumbledore into the boat, I let out a sigh before heading over to them and following them out of the cave before Dumbledore apparated us back to Hogwarts.
