The Nile is a very large river, but how do you think that really turned Egypt Into a powerful civilization? Well, it did give them a lot of what they needed. Rivers nowadays aren't as powerful as they were back then. Rivers were actually a very large part of their lives. Most large civilizations had a river and so they were called the river civilizations because of how much it helped them. ancient Egypt was a powerful civilization that lasted for almost 3,000 years. Ancient Egypt was mostly covered in the dessert so there was a fertile strip. This is where the Nile and where most civilizations lived. There was one way though that they were so successful. The Nile shaped ancient Egypt because it made farming feasible, gave them trade and transportation, and it was a big part of their spiritual life.
