The rain was pouring heavily,
When a complete stranger shared his umbrella voluntarily,
I thought at first he’s an enemy who’s likely to commit felony,
But then few years later he came to be my sweet reverie.
Our worlds crossed again after that rainy day,
You introduced yourself to the class and said you were Jay,
I felt a sudden jolt of ecstasy inside my heart,
As your voice sounded like a total art.
I held back as you stared at me coldly,
You looked closely,
Walked passed through me slowly,
And sat beside me boldly.
Our story started to unfold that time,
As you became my partner-in-crime,
As if our fates were completely aligned.

We graduated together,
You fulfilled your dream of becoming an engineer,
While I also fulfilled my dream of becoming a professor,
We made it despite everybody’s pressure.
Soon after we received our diplomas,
We passed and nailed our board exams,
We celebrated together at your house,
And that was the moment we had our first night.

You officially courted me,
You asked for my parent’s go signal,
Even though you started courting me five years ago,
We still abide by my parent’s rule, right?
Everything was just for formality’s sake,
Coz you know enough my parents are the traditional type,
But then you still made a huge effort,
You’ve impressed my parents so much that they’re very much willing to send me off to you.

As much as how happy you were, so do I,
It’s just the label that changes,
But my love for you stayed constant,
I hoped that would also be the case for you.
