Pretvar, Europe
April  (1606)

Far away, unknown to both human and supernatural, water drips from the stalactites to fall onto the earthy floor of a hidden cave.

It is more than normal today as the genesis of spring had come, blessing the lands with heavy rainfall as the gods cried for their children.

It seeps into the mud who acts like a sponge, readily accepting and absorbing the liquid, regardless of its repetitive rhythm and overwhelming quantity.

The cave had existed for years, hidden from the eyes of those who might question the reason for its existence, not to mention its contents. Today, however, is a day of new beginnings.

It is not a phenomenon nor an unpredictable event but something that was imminent; bound to happen as fate would have already written this chapter of reality.

A crack appears in the centuries old, gold chrysalis, slowly spreading down the middle as it furthers its mission to shatter apart.

Usually, the water patters off of its surface, unable to penetrate the magical force field created by the gifted. But it is on this in which the small opening has formed that the water succeeds, finally seeping through and wetting the face of the man it has held for centuries.

Unable to withstand the multiple fissures appearing on its surface, the container breaks and the man falls to floor as the chrysalis shatters to pieces.

He heaves a deep breath as he is finally released from the centuries long spell of sleep, gazing around the cave in confusion.

"You've awoken, Omara." the woman's voice says as she stands at the caves opening, peering down upon the trees as the rain beats their feathers.

The sky is overcast and dark as the heavy clouds burst with joy, eager to become light once more.

"Mother.." he says, wiping his face as the water drips onto his forehead.

"It would seem as if your sister has done quite a number on this land." She inhaled, her lips pursed as she tucks her hand behind her back.

The man stands, trying to find his balance as he makes his way towards the woman.

"I'm eager to see the monsters she has created now. And even more eager to send them to them to their graves."

The man swallows at the seriousness of the threat, another droplet of water falling onto his forehead. He looks to the cave's ceiling, noticing that their were no stalactites above the opening in which he stood under.

Wiping his forehead, he stared at his own palm to examine the liquid as another water droplet falls onto his hand. It seemed to run in a perfect line as it settled in the crevice of his palm known as the life line. This made him shudder.

He walks closer to the woman, standing at her side as they share a knowing look, listening to the other the chrysalis' break behind them.

It is the dawn of a new day and a new era.

They have awoken and they are coming to protect it.
