"Mia!" I jumped and looked at him. "The doctor wants to ask you some questions." "Oh." The doctor looked at me funny then started asking questions. "Okay how did you break your ankle?" "I fell."
"You fell. Doing what if you don't mind me asking?" "Down the stairs." "You fell down the stairs." "Yeah." "Then what about the other bruises on your leg?" I looked over at Elias but he just stared at me with a blank look.
"Sir could you leave the room for a second." He glared at me then stood up. "Yes. Lotus come on." "Bye mommy." I waved at Lotus and they walked out.
When the door closed I looked at the doctor. "So now that we're alone you can tell me what actually happened." "Huh?" "How did you break your ankle?" "I told you I fell down the stairs."
"Sweetie your ankle is broken in a way that if stairs were involved you would've been pushed down them." He leaned in closer and held my hands. "I know he was the one that broke it but I can't help you if you don't let me. I'm sure you want your son to be safe so why not get help now."
"But he doesn't hit him." Immediately after I said that I covered my mouth. "Do you want me to get an officer?" "N-no. I-I wanna go h-home." He sighed but handed me a pair of crutches. "I'll prescribe you extra pain medication just in case." I grabbed the crutches and left as fast as I could.
When we got to the car he grabbed me harshly and pushed me up against it. "What did you tell him?" "What you t-told me to say." "Mmm. Get in the car people are staring."
