Autumn had come to the Island of Sodor. The fields were changing from yellow Stubble to Brown earth, and a tractor was hard at work as Ryuko puffed along her branch line.

Later, Ryuko saw the Tractor close by. "Hello." Said the Tractor. "My name is Asuna Yuuki. I'm plowing." "I'm Ryuko Matoi." Ryuko replied. "What Ugly wheels you've Got!" "They're not Ugly, they're called Caterpillars." Said Asuna. "I can go anywhere. I don't Need rails." "I don't want to go anywhere." Said Ryuko. "I like my Rails, thank you." And she puffed away.

Then Winter Came, with dark Clouds full of snow. "I don't Like it!" Said Ryuko's Driver. "A Heavy fall is coming, I hope it doesn't stop us!" "Heh!" Said Ryuko. "Soft Stuff! Nothing To it!" And She puffed on feeling Cold, but Confident.

They finished their journey safely, but by now the Countryside was covered with a Blanket of snow. "You'll need your Snowplow for your next Journey, Ryuko." Said her Driver. "Bah!" Snapped Ryuko. "Snow is silly Soft stuff! Won't Stop me!" But the Driver put it on her anyway.

The Snowplow was heavy, uncomfortable, and it Made Ryuko cross. She shook it, and She banged it, and when they got back to the shed, it was so damaged that the Driver had to take it off. "You're a very Naughty engine!" Said The Driver to Ryuko, as he shut her up in the shed for the night.

The Next Morning, Ryuko's Driver and Fireman came early to try to mend her Snowplow. They worked hard on it, but they Couldn't make it fit! Ryuko was pleased with her Plan. "I shan't have to wear it! I shan't have to wear it!" She puffed to Lucy and Madoka. But they were rather worried. "I hope it's Alright, I hope it's Alright." They whispered to each other.

The Driver was worried too. "It's not bad here in Towns," he said to the Fireman." But it's sure to be deep in the valley of the Branchline!" And they set off along their line.

"Silly Soft Stuff!" Puffed Ryuko. "That's What Snow is! And that Snowplow! Good Riddance! I didn't need that stupid old thing yesterday, and I shan't today! Snow Can't Stop me! I'll show them now!" She Rushed into a tunnel thinking how clever she was, but there was Trouble Ahead!

CRASH!!!

"Cinders And Ashes!" Exclaimed Ryuko. "I'm stuck!" And she was! In a large snowdrift, that is! "Back, Ryuko! Back!" Said her Driver. Ryuko tried to reverse, but her wheels spun and she couldn't move.

The conductor went back to the Station for Help, while Everyone else tried to dig the snow away, But as fast as they dug, More snow Slipped down until Ryuko was Nearly buried in Snow. "Oh my Wheels and Coupling rods! I shall have to stop here until I'm frozen! What a silly engine I am!" And Ryuko began to cry sadly.

At last, a Red Bus Came to save the Passengers. And then, who should Come to Ryuko's Rescue, but Asuna! Snow never worries her! They chained her to Madoka and She Pulled the Empty Coaches away. Then she came back for Ryuko.

Ryuko's wheels were Clear, but they still spun when she tried to move. Asuna Tugged and slipped, and slipped and tugged, and at last, dragged Ryuko out of the Snow Ready for the Journey home.

She came to see her after she was free. "Oh Thank you Asuna. Your Caterpillar tracks are splendid. I'm sorry I was rude earlier." "I forgive you." Said Asuna. "You can't judge a book by its cover you know!" "Yes," she replied to her. "I hope you'll be sensible now, Ryuko." Said her Driver. "I'll try!" Said Ryuko, and she puffed slowly away, being glad to have made a new friend in Asuna.
