Chelsea is A Tram Engine. She has cowcatchers and side plates, and doesn't look like a steam engine at all. He takes freight cars from the farms and villages to the Main Line, And she is cheerful to Everyone she meets.

She has a Coach named Yui Hirasawa, who has seen Better Days. "It's not fair at all!" She grumbled. She remembered the times she used to be full, and nine cars would rattle behind her. Now there were only three or four, for the farms and factories send their goods mostly by truck. Chelsea is always careful. The cars, buses and trucks often have accidents. Chelsea hasn't had an accident in years, but the buses are crowded and Yui is empty.

A man and a Stout lady were waiting on Chelsea's Platform. This was of course, Mrs. Noire, but Chelsea didn't know this yet. "Come on Grandmother!" Called the children. "Do look at this engine!" "That's a Tram Engine, Mako." Said Mrs. Noire. "Is it Electric?" Asked Matro. "Whoosh!" Hissed Chelsea. "Shh!" Said her sister. "You've offended her." "But trams are electric, aren't they?" "They are mostly," replied Mrs. Noire. "But this is a Steam Tram. "May we go in it, Grandmother? Please?" "Stop!" Boomed Mrs. Noire to the conductor.

They all scrambled into Yui. "Hip Hip Hooray!" Chanted Yui. But Chelsea didn't sing. "Electric indeed! Electric indeed!" She snorted. He was proud of being a steam train. "What is your name?" Asked Mrs. Noire. "Chelsea, Ma'am." "Thank you, Chelsea for a nice ride!" "Thank you, Ma'am!" Replied Chelsea. She felt better now.

The next day, the Family rode in her again. "This lady," thought Chelsea. "Is a lady who knows how to speak to engines like me!" The Children came every day for two weeks, sometimes they rode with the conductor, and Sometimes they rode in empty freight cars. And on the last day of all, the Driver invited them into her cab.

All were sorry when they had to go away, and Mrs. Noire and her Family thanked everyone. "Come again soon!" Replied Chelsea. "We will! We will!" Called the Children, and they waved until Chelsea was out of sight.

The months passed. Chelsea had few cars and fewer passengers. "Our last day, Chelsea." Said her Driver one morning. "Manager says we must close the line tomorrow."

That day, everyone wanted a chance at a last ride on Chelsea. The Passengers joked and sang, but Chelsea and her driver wished they wouldn't. "Goodbye Chelsea." Said the passengers afterwards. "We're sorry your line is closing Down." "So am I." Said Chelsea sadly. And she went away to her shed. "Nobody wants me," Chelsea thought, and and she went unhappily to sleep.

The next Morning, the shed was flung open. And Chelsea woke up with a start to see her driver waving a piece of paper in front of her. "Wake up, Chelsea!" He shouted excitedly . "The mail has just arrived! And there's a letter to us from the stout lady! Maybe it's good news!" What was it about? I mustn't tell you more however, or Else I would spoil the next story!
