The McLaren Senna is the most track-oriented road car of the manufacturer and pays hommage to the Formula 1-racing driver Ayrton Senna who died in 1994. It is part of McLaren's Ultimate Series that includes all high-end models of McLaren. The production started in July2018 with all 500 cars already sold.

Also based on the Senna is the track-only Senna GTR with more power, downforce and less weight.
The 4.0 litre V8-biturbomid-engine was the strongest engine McLaren developed when it was presented. Through more displacement and several optimizations, the engineers reached a total of 800PS and 800Nm. Transmitted by a 7-speed DCT to the rear wheels, it accelerates in just 2.8s from 0-100km/h, 6.8s from 0-200km/h and needs only 17.5s from 0-300km/h. The top speed is "only" 335km/h because of the many downforce creating aero parts.

Because almost the whole car is made out of carbon fiber, the Senna weighs only 1273kg which made the Senna not the lightest McLaren (that was the F1 back then) but the one with the best power weight until then with just 1.59kg/PS.

For the Senna, McLaren created an absolutely unique downforce package which starts in the front. The steerable and contrast-coloured aero claps in the front sit directly under the headlights and can either create or reduce the downforce.
