There's a boy I know
Who would take over the world
Not for himself
But for a girl

He loved her too much
She was his world
She was his diamond in the rough
His starstruck gold

He never did believe
That he mattered though
He felt the world was against him
It made him feel cold

He felt trapped
His palms were bare
He searched for validation
That wasn't there

But he'd always forget
That there are people who care
Even in small fractions
At least they were there

When he's unable to feel joy
There's someone there to smile
To tell him it'll all work out
To make euphoria last for a little while

But he feels empty
He fears there's nothing left
He always had doubts
He'd always forget

That he matters
He is breathing
He still has a heart
He can live with reason

Will words be enough?
Will he ever listen?
Will he know that he's loved
By the girl who's smitten?

She does love him
But fears the worst
When he keeps getting paranoid
When he keeps getting hurt

She still cares
But feels the pressure
Of being put on a pedestal
And trying to make him feel better

But she'll always be
Right there for him
She keeps her arms open
Whenever the light seems dim

Even when she's a mess
She'd still slap on a smile
For the sake of his well being
To walk a thousand miles

I hope he knows
How much he matters
How he is loved
And can still climb that ladder

We can stitch your fabric
Untie tight knots
Pin down ideas
And reevaluate our thoughts

You matter.
Remember that.
Always.
