The tears had stopped flowing, but the Doctor made no move to untuck her from his side. Keeping his arm tightly wrapped around her. He told himself it was just in case she started crying again, but in reality it was because he found it comforting for himself to hold the smaller woman close. Of course, he would never admit to that, not even to himself.

"So, Rain, what's your favorite flower?" The Doctor attempted to strike up a conversation after a good few minutes of peaceful silence. Rain blinked up at him in surprise at the unexpected question.

"Hydrangea. I rather like Hydrangeas." Rain decided after only a moment of thought. A small smile lifted her lips as she pictured the clusters of small flowers.

"What makes them special to you?" The Doctor asked her next and Rain couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the alien man next to her.

"Are, are you trying to distract me?" She inquired and he smirked just slightly.

"Is it working?" Rain ducked her head slightly in embarrassment when she realized that it was, the Doctor smirk growing into an accomplished grin. Returning to gazing at the city before her, Rain thought about his original question.

"Maybe it's because of how they react to where they're planted. Turning the blossoms different colors based on the soil they're growing in. They come in very beautiful colors as well, soft and pale or rich and deep." Rain hummed thoughtfully before turning back to look at him.

"Do you have a favorite flower Doctor?" The man blinked, probably not having expected her to ask him the same question he'd asked her. He hummed and furrowed his brow in thought. Rain waited patiently for his answer.

"Gallendia, I think. It's from my home planet." He explained when Rain frowned, not recognizing the name. Though she did hear the pained undertone of his voice when he mentioned his planet.

"What does it look like?" She pushed softly and he sighed.

"The petals were a fiery orange with veins of crimson and a silver center. They looked a lot like an orchid and grew in clusters in the red grass meadows." A look of deep longing could be seen in the Doctor's eyes, like he wished he could walk through those fields just one more time. He sighed before shaking away his thoughts.

"The TARDIS might have some growing in the garden, though I'm not sure." Rain gave him a small smile.

"Then I look forward to seeing it, it sounds wonderful." Rain told him. The door to the roof opened behind then and Rose stepped out. Pausing when she saw the two sitting there, the Doctor with his arm wrapped around Rain, looking very much like a couple. Rose smirked, whipping out her phone and snapping a picture of them from behind without them knowing.

"Yup," She murmured to herself. "Definitely getting them together." Slipping her phone away she walked around to them. Acting as though she hadn't noticed their position and hadn't taken photos of them.

"I can't tell her. I can't even begin, she's never going to forgive me!" Rose sighed, catching their attention as she leaned against the brick wall next to Rain and taking notice to the slight redness in Rain's eyes. "And we missed a year? Was it good?"

"Middling." The Doctor gave a so-so motion with his free hand, keeping the other around Rain. Rose huffed and rolled her eyes at him.

"You're so useless."

"Well, if it's this much trouble, are you going to stay here now?" He tried to sound uncaring about it, but Rain caught the lonely and empty undertone.

"Well I haven't, haven't got a home to go back to anyway now." Rain sighed, but offered the Doctor a small smile which he returned. Rose frowned.

"I, I don't know, but I can't do that to her again." Rose noted unsure.
