Taylor grabbed her bag as Zack got in the front of the truck.
“Be back in a minute mate.” She quickly swapped her track pants for some tights. She fixed her hair and rubbed on some tinted moisturizer. Hopping back in the truck Zack looked at her spraying herself with deodorant.
“Coach you, you look like a girl!”
“Yeah, thanks, Zack.” She started up the truck trying to ignore his laughter.
She couldn't help feeling anxious to see Hannah again. This time she wanted to make a better impression.
Walking past the windows in the hallway she noticed the class of students had aged. They slipped in the back taking a seat.
“You have to be quiet when they dance.”
Taylor looked beside her at the boy trying to remove his shoes.
“I got that.” She could hear Taylor's voice but the more senior class was making it hard for her to make her out.
“Alright so let's partner up.”
Finally, Taylor spotted her as the class paired up. She was dressed more casually.
Hannah didn’t work out her numbers very well for this new class. She was going to have to lead on her own. “Alright...” She noticed the boys' legs moving over on the seats next to... She grinned. “Everyone take a moment to get to know your partner.”
“Zack,” Taylor leaned down picking up his shoe off the floor.
“Quiet Coach.”
Taylor noticed the hand out in front of her. She followed it up to the smiling blonde.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
“Come with me.”
“Ok.” Taylor followed her up to the front of the class. “Everyone say hi to Taylor.”
“Hi, Taylor.”
“Hi.” She blushed seeing all eyes on her.
“So we are going to start with a simple waltz.”
“The what?” Taylor felt her hand slip in her own. Hannah turned her around to face her placing her other hand on her shoulder. “Hey, I can’t dance.”
“You can. I've seen your running man.”
“Ha, that wasn’t dancing.” Her hand was being guided to the slim waist. “This is proper real dancing.” She blushed at the blonde grinned before her.
“That's why I’m going to teach you. I'll lead.”Taylor looked up at the clock. She'd been there for almost an hour. Zack had fallen asleep on the floor under the seats.
“Thank you for coming everyone. I hope to see you all next week.” As the room started to clear Taylor headed over to Hannah by her bags.
“If I didn’t know better I'd think you planned that?” Hannah turned around laughing.
“Oh, I'm sorry Taylor. You looked prepared for class so yes I took advantage of you.” She handed her five dollars. Taylor looked at it in her hand.
“Hmm. Think I'm going to have to start charging more for my services.”
Hannah searched her smiling eyes. “Well, maybe I can do better.” She took a glimpse at her son asleep on the floor. “I need to feed the bug on the floor over there. Can I tempt you into joining us? I mean if I'm not keeping you from anything?”
Taylor searched the brown eyes staring back at her. She was kind of hungry.
“Ah sure, I mean if it's no trouble?”
“Not at all,” Hannah placed her hand on her arm. “I'm starved of adult conversation. And watching evening television is so boring on your own. Please?” Taylor couldn't help laughing.
“Alright,” She glimpsed over her shoulder at Zack. “I guess I can babysit you both for an evening. But you owe me.”~~~
“You got him?” Hannah pushed the front door open switching the hallway light on. Taylor stepped through careful not to knock Zack's sleeping head against the door frame.
“He's totally out to it.”
“You must have worn him out.”
“I think I did. Where do you want him?”
Hannah closed the door behind them.
“Um upstairs, The first room on the left.” Hannah followed her up switching the light on for her guest. She pulled the sheet back watching Taylor gently put the boy in his bed.
“Hmm.” Taylor smiled to herself. “Cute.”
Hannah stood beside her taking in her baby’s peaceful features.
“Yeah, he is.” She smiled. “Um, thanks for coming to dinner with me...us.” Taylor followed her back down the stairs.
“Hey, how could I say no to a McDonald's cheeseburger!”
“Yeah, it was nice, a nice end to a long day.”
“Yeah,” Taylor looked at her.
Hannah pursed her lips.
“Ah if you don't have to go,”
Taylor smiled to herself. She would stay but...
“Listen. Do you have a babysitter? I thought I could take you out sometime since you’re starved for adult conversation and company obviously?” Hannah’s face lit up.
“Yeah, yeah I do. Tammy looks after him for me.”
“Cool.” Taylor moved around her heading towards the door. “Alright um, I have your number so I guess I will ring you.” She opened the door needing to end this quickly before she changed her mind about leaving.
“Ok yeah.” Hannah put her hand on the door, strangely not wanting her to go.
“Ok then, oh how much notice does Tammy need?” Taylor asked almost out the door.
“Oh um, a night?”
“Oh ok,” She hesitated. “Saturday, is that enough time?”
Hannah’s eyes widened; the smile on her face was obvious.
“I'll ring her in the morning.” Taylor's face lit up.
“Ok then. About six-ish?”
“Ok.”
“Ok.” The door was closing between them. Hannah pulled it back.
“What should I wear?”
Taylor turned around and laughed feeling this nervousness crack.
“Sneakers, and a jacket in case it gets cold.”
“Ok.” Hannah smiled softly.
Taylor smiled back.
“See you Saturday.”
“Bye.”
Hannah closed the door between them. She smiled to herself. Taylor had been good company. She liked her. And she was good with Zack. She laughed. She couldn't wait to see her again.
Taylor stood out on the doorstep. She thought about the moment they just had. A grin came to her cheeks. She liked Hannah. She made her smile. She wanted to hang out with her again. Just with her.~~~
