GODLY SANCTIONS
Bleeding crucifixes hang on the wall and scented candles keep out the cold
Rosary in hand, I ask the lord to purge my sins both new and old
One by one I count the beads in full repentance for my thoughts and deeds
And after chanting the apostle's creed I rid myself of unholy needs
Even though I read the bible and worship God like a good disciple
I'm still doomed to face his wrath for biting into the forbidden apple
All my prayers and repenting actions can't undo my sinful attractions
For a man's desire for fellow men goes against his godly-sanctions
After many failed interventions, I've depleted all means of extrication
Mom and dad send me to camp to gain sanity and vindication
Two months into "character cleansing", all I learn is to hide it better
Maybe they may think it's wrong but God's love is far much greater
Only now do I realize that true religion is love and acceptance
Being who I'm born to be needs no prayers of repentance
With God as my host I will never again become lost
Saint or sinner, I'm still a winner for love is love and it has no cost
