Todoroki's POV
I slid the dark frame of the front house gate open, revealing the front of my family's house. The door closed behind me, shutting out the outside world as everything seemed to fade into nothing. The sun barely hung in the sky, and rain clouds began to form. This house is not my home. The warmth that Amara's company had once provided me had quickly vanished. After school, we got food and then I walked her home. I regret not taking longer. A frown plastered itself on my face as I slid the front house door open. I proceeded to take my shoes off when I was greeted by my sister.
"Welcome home, Shoto. Dad wanted to talk with you. He's waiting in the study," Fuyumi informed me in a gloomy tone. I understood it all too well.
"Thanks," I mumbled as I started navigating the giant house. The floorboards creaked beneath me, and it felt as if the lonely house was crying. My father's study wasn't far away, but I already felt resentment writhe within me as I wondered what atrocities he was going to ask of me. A sigh escaped my lips as I knocked on the thick timber door of his study. My gaze was low when I heard my father's voice.
"Come in," my father's coarse voice vibrated coldly from the other side. I lifted the door handle and slid the door open, revealing his office.
"You wanted to see me," I mumbled.
"Yes, take a seat, Shoto," he commanded. His elbows rested on his desk, his fingers interlaced in front of his mouth. I listened and took the seat facing his desk. It creaked quietly under my weight. "I wanted to talk to you about your classmate," he began.
"My classmate?"
"Amara Aizawa," he voiced. My fingers dug into the timber of the seat, but I held tightly onto my stoic mask.
"What about her?"
"Her quirk is the strongest I've ever seen. I would say she is the next number 1 hero. I read the report about how she almost destroyed All Might," his voice was heavy with pride. There was no way I was going to tell him I was already dating her. "I want you, no, I need you to marry her. Bring her into the Todoroki family."
My teeth ground together as I tried to hide my contempt. "No, I won't use her like that," my voice was stern.
"Shoto, listen. With her quirk added to the power of the Todoroki family, we will become a legacy that will live on throughout the generations!" he exclaimed, shifting in his seat.
"If I was going to marry someone, it'd be because I want to. Not because you want me to," I seethed, my eyes narrowing at the man before me. Disappointment seemed to drip from his face as he tore his menacing blue eyes away.
"I have spent all this time and energy to surpass All Might. This is another way to do that," he grumbled with furrowed brows.
"I don't care about surpassing All Might. My priorities have changed," I felt myself snap.
He exploded from his seat and firmly planted his hands on the desk. A loud thud echoed through the lonely house. "You are still my son, and you shall do what I say," he threatened. The desk seemed to wince as I heard the wood splinter quietly.
"I won't use her like that," I repeated through clenched teeth. "We are done here." I rose from my seat and began to leave.
"One way or another, I will surpass All Might," he enunciated.
I ignored him as I stormed out of his room, making my way back down the hallway and to the front door.
"Shoto, where are you going?" Fuyumi shrieked from the kitchen. My entire body vibrated with uncontrollable anger that burned through me. I ignored her as I slid my shoes back on. I was normally able to control my anger, but tonight it was lit like a wildfire. My thoughts felt blurry as I blindly let my legs take me wherever they pleased.
