Josie's POV: The drive back from Triad was silent to say the least. "You okay, Jo", Hope asked as we pulled up at the school. I nodded before she sighed in frustration. "Do you know how stupid it was showing up at Triad like that", she asked me. "What were you thinking? You've could've gotten hurt, Josie", she exclaimed.
"I...don't remember", I told her before she shook her head and got out of the car. Swallowing thickly, I got out and walked back to my dorm. Rubbing my eyes tiredly, I turned on the light and closed the door behind me. I blinked in bewilderment as I noticed the unfamiliar items scattered across the room.
"What the...", I muttered, looking around in confusion. What is all this stuff? Did I somehow get a roommate while I was away? Deciding to ask my father about it tomorrow, I slipped into bed and turned over to go to sleep.
Something felt...wrong. Like I lost something, but I don't know what it is. Did I somehow drop something at Triad? I frowned, shifting around uncomfortably. What's wrong with me? Why can't I get comfortable?
Turning my head, I gazed at the bed across from me and bit my lip. Looking around the room, I slowly got out of bed and crawled into the other as a strange sense of calm slowly surrounded me. Pulling the blankets over me, I closed my eyes and sighed in consent.
Surely my new roommate won't mind me sleeping here.
I got up for breakfast the next morning and sat down in my usual seat, looking around the table in confusion. Why isn't anyone talking? "You guys okay", I asked them in concern.
"Yeah, why", Mg asked, glancing up from his comic book.
"You just never bring you're comic books to breakfast", I said before noticing that his attention was back on his magazine. I sighed before looking up as Hope sat down across from me with a cup of coffee in each hand.
"Dang, girl", Kaleb commented. "The coffee machine isn't going anywhere", he said as Hope silently slid the second cup into the seat next to me.
"Hey...guys", Penelope greeted as my breathing caught in my chest.
"Pen", I breathed as she sat down beside Hope. "You're back? I thought...", I trailed off as Landon and Rafael showed up.
"Morning, Hope", he smiled, sitting down in front of her. "You got me a coffee", he smiled, reaching for the cup before the tribrid snatched it away from him with a loud growl, causing the whole table to fall deadly silent. "Whoa. Hope, chill. It's just a cup of coffee", Landon chuckled.
"Landon, man...", Mg trailed off, putting his comic down as he glanced at him almost nervously.
"What? Did I do something wrong", Landon asked.
I shifted in my seat uncomfortably as a weird sense of anger passed over me. Why am I so mad? It's just a seat right?
"Are you crazy", Kaleb exclaimed.
"You can't just sit anywhere you please", Mg threw in as Penelope looked between us in confusion.
"What's the matter with you guys? It's just a seat", he frowned.
"It's not just a seat", Hope exclaimed as the whole table erupted in yelling.
After breakfast, I quickly caught up with Hope to check up on her, but she shoved passed me. "Hope? What's wrong", I asked in concern.
"Just leave me alone, fire starter", she warned.
