+ JORDAN'S POV

As usual Hazel is right. She did tell me to get my books before practice so we could head to the burger place faster. You see, we always go get burgers at Verona Burger after cheer practice on Friday. It's tradition. And we always try to get there fast before all the good booths are gone. But, of course, I forgot my books. So that means Hazel and Aurora already went their to secure one and I'll be meeting them soon. Bad part is, I'll have to walk there, but it's close so it's okay.

I do this like every week so I don't know why I'm complaining, I'm used to it.

When I finally reach my locker I grab what I need and immediately start running off to the exit. I guess that wasn't such a good idea because I'm not even in the middle of the way there when i crash into something. More like someone.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry" the person says as all of my books spread across the hall. The person is being nice because we both know this was my fault. "It's okay, I was in a rush and wasn't looking" I say as I start to gather them. The person is helping me and once we grab all the books are from the floor I stand up and that's when I look at who I crashed into and that almost makes me drop everything again. Nicholas.

"Jordan, hi" he says a little awkwardly. Nick and me used to be friends until that happened with you know who. To be honest, I always thought me and Nick had a future. He was always nice to me and to say I had a little crush on him would be downplaying it. But after everything went down, we just went our separate ways. "Hey" I say a little too coldly "I have to go, I'm late. Thanks for the help". I grab my books from his hand and leave him there.

I know he has no fault in what happened. But I just don't talk to him because, well, he is her twin brother and we've stablished a long time ago that we wouldn't interact. I am almost outside when I notice the noise. "No no no, please tell me it's not raining" I mumble to myself. But when I reach the doors to the exit I realize it is, in fact, raining.

         I just stare outside for a while. How am I supposed to get to VBurger now? "Uh, you're going to Verona right?" I hear a voice from behind me, making me jump a little. I guess I didn't hear Nicholas approach me because of the rain. I turn to him "Yeah" "You need a ride?" he asks in a low voice. I consider my options, none of which are good. I either walk and soak in the rain or I could get a ride with the enemy. I let out a deep breath before responding, "Sure".

          He gives me a little smile before saying "Just wait here, I'll be back soon". And he heads off into the rain. He comes back in his car a couple of minutes later and I make my run for the front seat. I close the door and drop all the books to the floor. "Thank you for this, you know, you didn't..." I start to say "It's no problem Jordy". I smile at the nickname. He's the only one who's ever called me Jordy. And I guess it's not a coincidence, because I kind of made sure or that.

          The car ride is silent. I notice him glancing my way from time to time and it makes me blush. How is it that he still has this effect on me? I hear him clear his throat and realize we're here. "Oh, sorry. Again thanks for the ride" I turn and give him a smile, a genuine one this time. He reciprocates. "You're welcome".

          When I start to get out of his car, I notice he's not getting out "Uh, you're not coming?" I ask. The football team usually hangs here too. "Nope" he says, and that makes me realize he drove all the way here just to drop me off, which makes me blush again "Oh, okay".

         As I'm leaning down to grab my books he says "Hey, Jordy I really miss you" I stand up so fast i almost hit my head. He's giving me a sad smile and I can't help but do the same. I don't say anything tho, I just grab my stuff and close the car door. He looks at me one more time before heading out, and I swear no ones ever given me a more meaningful look.

        When he leaves only one thing crosses my mind. What the hell just happened.
