Chapter 22 - In-Laws

"What is this feeling? Why do I have an urge to..." he says in his mind until Fengjiu screams out his name "DONGHUA!"

"Xiaobai, what is it?" he asks with all his focus back onto her. "I want..." she mumbles. "Whatever you want, you know I will never say no to you, Xiaobai!" he replies to her while gently stroking her hair. "I want it!" she screams out again. "Xiaobai what is it that you want and you are not getting in your dream, which is causing you to be this angry?" he asks back softly with a hint of curiosity in his tone of voice. "Dong...hua... I want... you..." she mumbles out. "I am right here my Xiaobai. I'm not going anywhere!" he softly says back to her. "I... want... be yours... completely..." she continues to mumbles out. "Xiaobai what do you mean?" Donghua asks in confusion.

This time Fengjiu didn't reply to Donghua anymore; she has fallen into a deep sleep now. Donghua just leans back against the rock with his eyes closed and continues soaking away the stress and fatigues. Donghua was still thinking about what Fengjiu meant when she said, 'I want to be yours completely.' "Does she want me to speed up the wedding ceremony so everyone knows who she is? Or does she want me to announce to the four seas and eight directions that we are already married? What is she thinking in this mischief mind of hers? She can't be thinking about that... can she? She is still so young and innocent! Just stay this way for now... be my Xiaobai... forget about the past..." he ponders in his mind.

After a while in the hot spring, Donghua lifts her up and conjures some new light clothes for them both to wear while walking out of the water, heading back towards their chamber. What happened this morning was something that he never wanted her to see at all. His frenziedness was never meant for her pure innocent mind and eyes. He didn't want to scare her at all. He gently lays her on their bed and he combs through her silky black hair with his fingers.

Her peaceful sleeping face is very attractive and he can't take his eyes off of her at all. "Xiaobai what have you done to me? You have changed me since the day my eyes fell upon you. I am willing to risk everything just to be with you. And nothing can or will be able to separate us at all anymore. I don't need Fate's charity at all. I can control my own destiny. If he comes and tries to take you away from me, I will end his fate once and for all." he thought in his mind. Fengjiu slowly starts to stir from her deep sleep.

"Dijun... Dijun... I'm... cold..." she mutters in a very low voice. Donghua lays down beside her and hugs her tightly. "Is this better?" he softly asks. "Mmm!" she softly hums. "Xiaobai do you want to go somewhere with me so we can relax a bit? We can leave everything behind for a while and you can go have fun? We can do whatever you like and enjoy our time together..." he softly asks. "Anywhere is fine as long as you're with me." she whispers while her eyes are still closed. "Xiaobai, did I scare you this morning?" he asks her.

What he just asked made Fengjiu flashes open her eyes wide and stare straight into his eyes. She caresses his face and pulls him in to kiss his lips. "Don't you dare to think you can scare me away! I am bound to you now, and you can't get rid of me that easily!" she quickly says, trying to make Donghua relax. "Xiaobai, there is no way I will get rid of you. I can't live without you anymore!" he softly says while grabbing her hands in his. "Dijin, can I ask you a question?" she quietly whispers. "Mmm." he hums and nods his head. "Dijun, three years ago, when you said I never saw your hands covered in blood and frenzied with killing, is that how you looked like this morning?" she curiously asks.

"Xiaobai... back then I only said that because I wanted to scare you away. But today, I didn't mean for you to actually see me this way." he embarrassingly says and looks away from her. She tries to turn his head back to her and he refuses. She gets up and lays on top of him trying to get a hold of his face. "LOOK AT ME! I DON'T CARE HOW YOU WERE BACK THEN AND I DON'T CARE IF IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL BE LIKE THAT AGAIN! I ONLY KNOW I, BAI FENGJIU WILL LOVE YOU AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT OTHER THINGS. EVEN IF ONE DAY YOU BECAME A MONSTER I WILL STILL LOVE YOU! BECAUSE YOU ARE DONGHUA DIJUN! IF YOU WANT TO GET RID OF ME FOR GOOD YOU WOULD HAVE TO KILL ME WITH YOUR OWN HANDS. EVEN IF I DIE, MY SPIRIT WILL STILL FOLLOW YOU AROUND AND PESTER YOU! I WILL NEVER STOP PESTERING YOU EVEN WHEN YOU FADE INTO THE REALM OF NOTHINGNESS! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" she screams out loud and tears are rolling down her cheeks.
