Chapter 35

*Ava's POV*

I felt like the room was moving in circles, my vision got blurry and  my knees went weak, I was about to hit the ground when Dylan reached for me and helped me sit on the couch, he kept his hands on me until he was sure that I was stable

"Ava, you need to breath" he kept saying

"Xander... How is this possible.. Who would want him dead"

"Alphas have many enemies Ava, even fellow Alphas but I promise I'll find out whose behind this"

He kept quiet for a while and I realised he was mindlinking someone, he then went out and came back with a glass of water with Kayla and Zayne rushing behind him

While we were sitting in silence, each of us lost in our own thoughts. Richard and Rossette arrived. I felt like there were tons of bricks sitting on my chest, making it hard for me to breath

Richard cleared his throat and started talking "I've spoken with the council, it seems three more Alphas have been affected and are in a comma as well, they are busy investigating what happened so the territory is under lockdown. No one is aloud to go out. Meaning Xander and the other Alphas will also remain there"

I gasped with my eyes wide open " but he needs us... He needs to be with his pack, recieve medical care"

"true, but the council has made a decision and we have to respect it" he continued "fortunately they will allow atleast one person from each pack to be with the alpha of their pack"

"I'll go" I immediately stated but they all looked at me with pitiful eyes until Rossette started talking

"honey, you can't go"

"what... Why?"  that came out more like an anger filled statement than a question

" You can't go because with Xander in a comma by default you are now the female alpha"

"but Dylan can take over" I begged

"It doesn't work like that, you are mated to the alpha... So in the absence of the alpha you have to step up and also, with the Alpha in a comma you are now a target, the whole pack is. Other Werewolves will see this as their chance to overthrow us and take over our pack"

"Luna... I understand you want to be with him but right now the pack needs you and we also need to keep you protected especially since we don't know where the threat came from"  Dylan added

"so whose going to go... Xander can't be alone, he needs someone"

"well... There is someone I trust has Xander's best interest at heart, they grew up together and she also knows how other territories work"

I can't belive I have to stay here and leave Xander alone,the thought of another woman being with him makes me a bit jealous but now is not the time to be jealous. I need to do  it.. I owe it to him.. I have to... "ok, so whose this person" I ask not looking at anyone

The room goes quiet again until Richard speaks "Mia"

You've got to be fucking kidding me!!!!!

"You can't possibly be serious" I said trying to keep myself calm but Rossette came in

"I know you two have issues... And I know she hasn't exactly been respectful towards you... But besides you she's the best person to go be with him and she's also a qualified nurse so that will come in handy"

She saw that I wasn't budging so she came and sat next to me then she took my hand in hers and looked me directly in the eyes "Xander loves you... Conscious or unconscious he is yours and you are his.. Forever. I know Mia has been a pain but right now she's the best person to go. I would go there myself but unfortunately I'm a target as well so none of the Alpha family can go.. Please understand and agree... For Xander's sake"

She pleaded with me silently and I have in "ok, Mia will go" I said silently

Richard mindlinked her and we all went downstairs to wait for her to arrive. And after thirty minutes she rang the bell and Zayne went to let her in. I was expecting her usual bitchy self, honestly I didn't have the energy to deal with her so tonight I think I'll let her win but when she walked in it seemed even she wasn't in the mood to annoy me

She looked at everyone then at me "Luna... I promise I'll do anything I can to make sure he pulls out of the comma" she said and I just nodded.

Richard told her everything she needed to know about where she was going and two of the pack guys arrived to transport her. After Mia left I just left everyone downstairs and went to my bedroom. Everything there screamed Xander, his scent was all over and it only shattered my heart even more. I walked around the room aimlessly until I heard the door open.

It was Rossette, I quickly glanced at her and went back to looking out the window. She reached for my hand and led me to take a sit on the loveseat next to the bed, she then sat next to me and took both my hands in hers

"ohh Ava.. It's ok to cry" just then I felt every wall I had put up high earlier come crumbling down and I let out a soft cry. Earlier when Dylan got the phonecall and throughout everything I had kept strong. I refused to break down, I needed to stay strong for Xander but now that I was  with Rossette I just couldn't stop the tears from flowing, She held me and never let go, I don't know how long I was in that position, crying until I eventually fell asleep in Rossette's arms.
