"Mata!", the bubbly voice called out

"Mata!", the bubbly voice called out.
"Yes putri", Kunti asked, turning her head to see the girl, who she considered her daughter.
"Mata, sorry I am a little late", Krishnaa apologized, while gasping for air. "Has the Pandit arrived.
"No putri, he will be here in a while. Sit down here, till then", saying so, Kunti left the room, leaving Krishnaa alone with her thoughts.

Krishnaa was feeling excited. She wanted to squeal and dance. She couldn't believe it. She is soon to get married. To Parth. To the man she loves.
Several times, she had caught herself thinking about their married life and had blushed at her wild imagination. She often wondered how it would be. Parth as her husband.

She had seen the loving, sweet side of him, but never see the passionate, determined side. What new side of him would she discover after marriage? Whichever it would be, she already knew that she loves it.

"Pranam", a daasi entered the room. "Maharani Kunti has asked for you. The Pandit has arrived."
Krishnaa nodded and went to where the pandit was.
There was silence in the room as the Pandit checked the position of planets and stars.
Krishnaa was nervously yet eagerly waiting to hear what Pandit has to say.

Finally, the Pandit looked up. "Their  horoscopes match perfectly", he stated and everyone sighed in relief. Krishnaa  and Parth exchanged a happy, excited look.
"What about the date?", Kunti asked.
Pandit went back to staring at some scrolls. After what felt like hours he finally answered. "Two months from today", he declared.

                   ••••••••••••••••••••

The preparation had began in full swing. A big wedding, that too in just two months won't be easy. Maharani Kunti had taken the entire matter in her own hands, supervising and managing all the work, without much help.
She seemed to be more excited and nervous than the bride and groom themselves.

She placed the length of the room, reading out the list of things that needed to be done, for the umpteenth time as her sons stared at her hopelessly. They didn't understand much. All they knew was that their mother was stressing over clothes, jewels and things needed for the traditions and rituals.

"Mata", Yudhishtir finally spoke. "Calm down. You don't need to take all the burden, we can allot some mundane tasks to the daasis".
"No!", Kunti exclaimed, sounding hyper. "I want this to be the grandest wedding ever in Aryavrat. I can't trust daasis with these responsibilities".

"Then we will help you, mata", Krishnaa's voice was heard, as she entered her room. "We can do somethings".
The five brothers nodded in agreement.
"No putri", Kunti retorted. "A wedding comes only once in a kanya's life. And I want you to enjoy it and not stress over the arrangements".

Krishnaa sighed. "Mata, I understand whatever you said, but that doesn't mean you take up all responsibilities and stress over it day and night."
Arjun was quietly observing the back and forth between the two. It was definitely amusing.

"But putri---",
"No Mata. Give me the list. I will make the arrangements of some of the things", she spoke authoritatively.
Kunti handed over the list without any counter argument.
Arjun suppressed a laughter. Here was his mother, Maharani of Indraprasth, the one who no one, not even their Pita went against, giving up to Krishnaa's arguments.

He stared at Krishnaa, who had a determinant expression while arguing with his Mata. He smirked and winked at her as she rolled her eyes.
"She's right Mata", he finally spoke up. "I understand that it is going to be a special day for you as well and that you personally want to make sure that it is perfect, but that doesn't mean, we can't help".
Kunti sighed and finally agreed to let the others help.

                 •••••••••••••••••••••••••

"Put these up there", Krishnaa instructed the servants. She was to decorate the massive palace in the best way possible. Maharani Kunti had given Krishnaa a brief idea of what she wants, and left the rest upto her.

Krishnaa was pleased as she got to see what she envisioned come to life. Kunti however, had just agreed to let Krishnaa handle the decorations. She still wished to stay in charge of the rituals.

Krishnaa handed the strings of pearls and beads to the servants to hang up.
She stared at the midnight blue and silver curtains in distaste. Royal red and gold would be a better combination, especially for a wedding.

She picked up the beautifully woven tapestries.
She immediately knew that they need to be a part of the decorations. She looked around to see all the daas-daasis  were busy with the other decorations. She groaned and pushed a ladder into a corner, deciding to hang the tapestry herself.

She climbed up the steps of the ladder and was about to hang the tapestry, when her foot slipped. She shut her eyes, awaiting the impact, but it never came.
She opened her eyes to find Parth smiling at her with her in his arms.
"What are you doing here?", she asked quietly.
"Waiting to catch you", he replied, shrugging his shoulders.
"Have you been expecting me to fall?", she asked.

He, however didn't reply.
"Parth put me down", she instructed.
"Alright", he said and let go of her.
She squealed and held on to his shoulders, expecting to hit the ground, but Parth caught her on time again.

"I didn't mean like that", she scolded.
"Hmmm", Parth replied, leaning forward and kissing her. Luckily they were in the corner, where they weren't easily visible to the servants.
"Parth, there are people here. Someone will come and see. Please put me down", she pleaded.
Parth clicked his tongue. "They won't", he replied. "You see, they are all busy in their own work."

"But---", Krishnaa started.
"Please", he pouted. "We haven't been able to spend much quality time. First, I had to go to Malva for weeks and now you are busy with wedding preparations."

Krishnaa rolled her eyes. "Today evening. We will spend quality time in the evening at my house."
Parth's face lit up.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
