ii: salvation.

61 8 2

take me into your arms and
clasp my hands while you
whisper your prayers into this fool's
mind

scripture of the archangel
floods my senses with white linen
leaving me pure,
holy,
divine

remind me of the towering clouds
that seemed so close
when we flew above them
on a trip to tomorrow

please,

lead me
to heaven's salvation

to cool evenings
where crickets buzz
and the nights wear on
without a disturbance
that might tear a hole
in the atmosphere

to the weekends where
i saw the horizon --
streaked with red
yellow
the golden reminders
of clarity

to moments where
there were three of us

to the times
where your embrace didn't feel
cold
and your fingers never turned blue
as i smiled

to the past where i wasn't
so blind
so reluctant
and so unforgiving

so selfish and impatient

deliver me
to heaven's salvation.
