The light was bright. Like having a flashlight shone in your face. Moments passed before my vision came back. In the distance, I could see it. The cloud rising high above the city.
I knew this day would come. The day soldiers told everyone to evacuate their homes. When the roads were lined with vehicles. When the planes flew over dropping their cargo onto the city and surrounding areas.
I stayed here, in my home. The only place I ever knew throughout the years before the war. When the glass shattered. When the wood tore from the foundation. Everything gone in an instant.
It was like time had stopped. I could barely see my body being reduced to nothing but dust. Seeing debris and sand blown towards me. Planes falling, vehicles being blown like leaves in the fall wind. Everything being flattened. Then the inevitable darkness...
