MINDLESS.
⠀⠀⠀That was all Casey could think. Her head was a needle skipping a record as the dull, emotionless faces dragged themselves into the rover. Their hands betraying their minds as they tried to get inside, pull Casey out, steal Raven away. But in the last second, Casey and Clarke were able to push them back out. They stood, staring, waiting for something, but Jasper continued to drive into the woods.
⠀⠀⠀The only relief that Casey found was that Raven hadn't been mindless when she first took the chip. ALIE had acted as a real person, even if Casey couldn't see her, and any decision she made was at the most influenced by the AI. She had been terrified of taking advantage of Raven, but Casey had to claw to the belief that the pain had subsided and Raven wanted to feel pleasure.
⠀⠀⠀Raven's head laid in Casey's lap as she played with the loose strands of her hair as they drove towards their friends in the woods. Casey had worried that it would be months until she saw them again, but it had only been days.
