CHAPTER TWELVE:

"Ow, shit!" Taehyung exclaimed. "That fricken hurts!"

"Well, maybe if you did your hand exercises twice a day instead of once every couple of days, like you're supposed to, it wouldn't hurt so bad." Yoongi bit back as the doctor put down Taehyung's hand.

"Did you have to say that while he's here?" He rubbed his hand trying to soothe the pain as he eyed the disappointed doctor who was, with no doubt, unimpressed with his lack of healing.

"Taehyung," Dr. Jung sighed, deflating in his swirly chair, "You have to keep up on your physical therapy if you ever want to get better!"

"I go to physical therapy! Ask Dr. Kim!" he defended himself while bringing up the warm hearted man. "I just...don't always do what he suggests I do afterwards..." he trailed off, choosing his words carefully as to make his side better.

Dr. Jung sighed hugely, followed by the click of a tongue from Yoongi. How dare they judge him? They're not the ones suffering over here!

"Do you want to get better, Taehyung?" the doctor asked tiredly. He's clearly had enough of Taehyung's antics.

Did Taehyung want to get better? Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't he? His life was practically ruined the moment those guys- whatever. Point is, his hand will forever be broken. He's come to terms with that. What's the point in therapy and stretching if he has no hope?

Nonetheless, the artist sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah, I do. But let's face it! The surgeries didn't work! My hand is neve-"

"Mr. Kim, I am going to have to stop you right there." The doctor interrupted with formality, putting his usual smiles away, he stared at Taehyung holding an air of persistence. "Your surgery went smoothly, everything that was supposed to happen, happened. You knew how long of a battle this was going to be. You knew it doesn't stop after surgery. You knew how draining this was going to be. And Mr. Kim, I know how smart of a man you are, so I suggest you get your act together and do your damn exercises."

"He said period," Yoongi whispered from the corner, earning a glare from Taehyung and a tired chuckle from the doctor.

"My point," the doctor started, voice lighter than before, but still wearing a look of exhaustion, "Is that you need to be in this all the way. If you don't want to regain full mobility of your hand, then you can quit, you don't have to do the exercises Dr. Kim 'suggests', and no, they're not suggestions, Mr. Kim, they're requirements. If you don't do them, I can guarantee your hand won't get better."

Taehyung, looking down, couldn't form a comeback, or any words for that matter, that could help his situation. He knew he was wrong. And if he were being honest, he knew that Yoongi was the only reason he's gotten this far. Without that push from his best friend, he probably wouldn't have gotten the second reconstruction surgery, nor would he have recovered enough after the first surgery to even qualify for the reconstruction.

"Taehyung," Dr. Jung said softly, reverting back to his name, showing a friendlier side of himself. "I'm going to suggest two things, and these are both topics that you both should discuss together." He motioned between the two other men in the room who looked at each other in slight confusion before turning back towards the doctor.

"First thing, is I, as your main doctor, believe that you are not ready to fight for your hand. Given the fact that it's not getting better and you're not mentally in this, I think it's in your best interest to go back to therapy."

Taehyung opened his mouth to interject, but Hoseok beat him to it, "Therapy, Taehyung. For your mind, your mental health, not your physical health. This long battle you've been trudging through will take your whole body to complete, mind and muscles alike. So as your doctor, I recommend you go to a therapist to help work through your past feelings from the...accident...and your current emotions; you should work out what you're currently feeling, what's holding you back, what your future may look like. I believe this will help you more than you think it will."
