*A/N: First off, NO! I DEFINITELY DO NOT OWN THE PICTURE YOU SEE BEFORE YOU! This was made by the incredible JerseyCaptain on the Balto fan animation source. This is what the dogs looked like in real life and also how they would appear in the story (aside from Balto's movie counterpart being a gray wolf-dog). From left to right: Togo, Balto, and Fritz.
The Akids were with Balto and Boris as they were now nearing the outskirts of town. There they came upon a beautiful small house with a large kennel in the backyard holding a bunch of dogs. Mostly husky sled dogs to be precise.
Balto sighed as he looked towards the kennels. He wasn't looking forward to going back there as he slowly walked towards the kennels, knowing he would be meeting some petty insults from the dogs there. The kids noticed.
Balto came up to get a quick drink of water when some of the dogs in the kennels came up, mocking him.
"Hey, scrub dog! How was your race today?" One dog teased Balto, having heard about his run-in at the race with Steele earlier today. "Bet Sepp's gonna have it in for you good!" He snickered.
"Aww, is the poor boy sad he didn't get chosen to lead the team... AGAIN?!" Another one said before the dogs all bursted out laughing.
Balto looked down sadly as he continued to get a drink of water, trying his best to ignore the other dogs constant and rude remarks towards him, but knew it was impossible. Especially when he knew to expect it to happen everyday.
The Akids all glared towards the other sled dogs thinking, how dare they make fun of poor Balto like that.
Just then, the gang heard some dogs barking in the distance and all turned to see an approaching dog team pulling a sled. A musher and his dogs had just arrived home from another hard days work. The musher, who took off his winter hood, was revealed to be a man in his mid 40's. His name was Leonhard Seppala. As an immigrant from Norway, he was known as one of the most famous mushers in the whole Alaskan territory. He was also a racing champion. The best of the best as the local townspeople often called him "The King of the Trail".
The gang soon figured out that this was the man Sigrid was telling them about... Her father!
Seppala had a full team of huskies he brought home that day. But the Akids were most particularly interested in his lead dog. A little brown and gray husky a bit smaller than Balto with half of his right ear missing. He appeared to be a pretty old dog too in fact.
"Good dogs. Well done, all!" Leonhard Seppala praised his dogs on their run. "There'll be full bellies and warm beds tonight"
Seppala let his dogs out of their harnesses as they headed towards the kennel for dinner. Seppala started walking up towards his house when he turned spotting Balto, along with the Akids and Boris watching him near the kennels. Seppala had heard from the locals on how the big black husky had caused a bit of disruption today at the race. Seppala looked towards Balto with a bit of a sullen look on his face, as the kids heard him mutter under his breath about Balto. "Daft mutt"
"Hey, that's not very nice!" Brock said towards Seppala.
Seppala opened the door, about to head inside to his house until he did another take realizing that their were children on his property. And with his dogs.
"And just who are you all?" He asked, coming back out and up to the adventure kids.
"We're from out of town. We're just visiting to watch the races and such" Teeders covered up, as the Akids knew they swore never to tell anyone that they were from the future while they were on missions such as this one.
