"Humans, who were like pennies, two-faced and worthless, their friendship as artificial as their genetically engineered intelligence."

I gripped her shoulders firmly against the stone wall, my fingers digging into her delicate skin as my thoughts clouded with resentment and harrowing rage pulsed through my veins.

With not a hint of fear in her concerned eyes, her hand reached for my face and carressed it gently. The action took me by surprise and for a moment I was rendered breathless.

"Who hurt you, tiger?" She spoke to me softly. The warmth of her touch was something new and strangely comforting. I unconsciously loosened my grip.

Who hurt me, you ask?

If only I knew.

Because if i did,

Their breath at that very moment would have been their last.

Then, the hands caressing my cheek became just like mine; elegant, thin, and cold.

"Tae?!" a deep voice called out to me.

"Tae, wake up!"

.

.

"KIM TAEHYUNG!"

...

Huh?

27th September, 1950

Taehyung jerks awake to see his elder sister Yeji's face staring back at him, her long fingers stroking the surface of his cheek in a heartfelt manner.

"Finally," she sighed with relief, before her expression turned stern. "Now answer the question I asked you."

Taehyung blinked. A dozen possibilities began racing through his mind as his most recent memories returned to him. How long was he out? He hoped it wasn't long.

"I... would you mind repeating it?"

"Who did this to you?" His sister demanded, gesturing towards a heap of blood-stained clothing that lay suspended in a bucket of water.

She must have undressed him while he was out cold... but how did she even find him in the first place?

"The humans," he replied grimly. "They did more than just that. They took Beomgyu. And they know about-" Yeji pulled out a splinter of steel that had penetrated his skin, causing him to pause in the middle of his sentence and wince in pain.

The bullet hole in his shoulder sealed shut, and he managed to speak again.

"They know well about our existence. I was under the impression that they would kill me. How is it that i'm-"

"You were rescued," she answered, tilting her head towards a figure on the far left, "by two wonderful gentlemen."

"No need to feel special," the person said in a raspy tone. "It wasn't you who I intended to save. I only came because I owed the kid."

It took Taehyung a couple of seconds before he could recall where he had seen that green hair and doll-like face.

"You mean Jungkook? You mustn't be fooled, that kid is affiliated with-."

"No, no, no. He's a genius. He was stalling them because he knew I would be on my way the moment I heard those gunshots."

"Then where is he now?"
