Daddy!

(Part two to my daughter)

Third person POV hours later

Layla held tightly onto the very woman her daddy told her to go with. She was nice. And she didn't want to let go. Athena rubbed her back softly, trying to soothe her. She never knew buck had a daughter. He never brought it up. And now he just took a bullet to the chest for her. She would do the same thing for her kids. And now they were both waiting to hear from the doctor. Athena could hear the fast pace of footsteps. She turned her head and saw the whole crew and Maddie. Layla turned her head and saw her aunt. "Aunty Maddie!", she yelled. She got down from the chair and raced over to her aunt. Maddie bent down to her height and wrapped her arms around her niece. "Oh Layla, I was so worried. Your okay, it's okay", she said as she heard the sounds of her nieces cry's. Layla sniffled. "A bad man hurt daddy", she said softly. Maddie looked at her niece sadly. "I know baby, I know, but the nice doctors are going to try and help him", she said. She couldn't make promises she couldn't keep. "Will he he okay aunt Maddie?", she asked her aunt. Maddie looked at Athena and then back at the rest of the crew. And then back at Layla. "I don't know, I don't know baby, I wish I knew", she said. And that's when the waterworks burst. Layla cried in maddies arms. Maddie picked her up and held her in her arms. "Shh, it's okay, it's okay, your daddy is one of the strongest person I know, he's strong, just like you", Maddie said. Layla stopped crying and sniffled. "Daddy strong, daddy told me to be strong for him, he tell me to tell you he love you and me", she said as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hands. Maddie could feel the tears welling up in her eyes.

"And I loved him a lot too baby, he's my little brother", Maddie said. She could feel the tear rolling down her cheek. Maddie sat down with Layla in her arms. Layla laid her head on maddies shoulder. "Buck has a daughter? How come he didn't tell us?", chim asked. Maddie turned to him. "Because he didn't want her to get hurt, his life and job is already dangerous as it is, you think he would have wanted Layla in the mix? Look what happened today, he was willing to die for her, and I honestly don't think he trusted you with her after what happened, he made me promise not to tell any of you, not even Eddie knows", she said. She cuddled her niece into her arms.

She could see the hurt in they're faces when she said he didn't trust them. But he had a reason to do it.

Layla turned to look at them. "Daddy tell me all about you guys, you his friends, he say you guys heroes, you save people, like me, daddy save me, he my hero", she said. Maddie rubbed her back. "That's right baby, he is a hero, he's all of our hero", she said. Layla turned to her aunt. "When can I see daddy? I want to see daddy", she said. "Soon, we'll be able to see him soon", Maddie said. Layla nodded her head. "Okay aunty Maddie", she said softly.

Just then the doctor came over to them. Maddie looked up at him. "Is he okay? Is my brother okay?", she asked him. The doctor looked at Layla in her arms. "It's best if we talk privately", he said. Maddie gulped. That's bad. Especially if he says that. Maddie then sighed. "Okay", she said. She looked at Athena. Her brother trusted Athena with Layla. "Athena?", she asked. Athena just smiled. "Go, I'm watch her. Come here baby", she said as she gently scooped Layla out of maddies arms. Layla's arms immediately went around Athenas neck. Maddie looked to the rest of the crew. They were all sitting down and was looking at the floor in shame and sadness. She looked at Eddie. He was beating himself up the most. He was his best friend. His buddy, his buck. The love of his life. He didn't even know buck had a daughter. Buck didn't trust him enough to tell him he had a daughter. And he had every right too.

Maddie got up and walked with the doctor. "What is it? Is my brother okay?", she asked with hope in her eyes. The doctor sighed. "We were touch and go a few times, but we were able to get him back, the bullet was really close to his heart, but we took it out, there was a lot of bleeding, he's going to need lots of rest and time to heal before he does anything", the doctor said. Maddie smiled through her tears. She wrapped her arms around the doctor and hugged him. "Thank you! Thank you!", she said happily. "Can I see him?", she asked him. The doctor nodded. "Of course, he's being put in one of the rooms, he's awake now, he's asking for his daughter", he said. Maddie laughed in relief. "Of course he is", she said. She walked back into the waiting room. "Layla, come here baby, we can go see daddy now, he's awake and asking to see you", she said softly. Layla picked her head up when she heard that. "Daddy!", she yelled happily. She got out of Athenas arms and ran to her aunt. Maddie giggled. She walked to the room where they put buck in. Once they reached the room. Layla ran in. "Daddy!", she yelled. Maddie laughed when she heard Layla's giggles and the sound of bucks laugh. She entered the room to see Layla hugging buck tightly. "I told you I would always be here", he said. He opened his eyes and saw Maddie. He smiled at her in thanks. Maddie just nodded and smiled at her baby brother. "I was brave daddy, I was brave just like you", she said. Buck kissed her forehead. "Oh my brave girl, your so brave baby", he said bringing her into his arms. Careful of the wires.

He then noticed the other people in the room. He looked at Maddie. "yeah they know", Maddie said. Buck groaned in frustration. "I met your friends daddy, they're so nice, Miss Athena was so nice to me daddy. She bought me a hot chocolate", Layla said giggling happily. Buck chuckled. "I think you know more about them then they know about you baby, why don't you go introduce yourself", he said. Well I guess the cats out of the bag. Layla giggled and nodded. She kissed her fathers cheek. And bounced off of the bed. She walked over to the very tall people. "Hi! My name is Layla Marie Buckley! It's nice to meet you!", she said happily.

They smiled. Oh yeah this is definitely bucks daughter. Eddie bent to her height. "Well hi there, I'm Eddie", he said. Layla giggled. "Oh I know, daddy told me all about you, and your son Christopher, I hope I can meet him", she said happily. He smiled. "He'll be happy to meet you", he said. Layla giggled. "Can I tell you a secret?", she whispered. Eddie just smiled and nodded. She got real close to his ear. "Daddy has a crush on you", she said, she giggled as she pulled away. She giggled even louder when she saw his pink cheeks. "Go say hi to daddy", she said as she tugged him over to her father. She turned back to the others. She had her thinking face on. "Your hen (pointing to hen) your chimney Funny name (she giggled as she Pointed to chimney) your Athena (she pointed to Athena) and your the captain, daddy talks about you the most, captain Nash. It's really nice to meet you guys. Daddy loves working with you guys", she said with a big smile on her face. They all smiled. She was adorable. Layla turned to look at her father. But when she saw what was happening, she made a face. "Ew daddy! Cooties! You got cooties now!", she said as she covered her eyes. She could hear everyone laugh. Her daddy was kissing Eddie. Gross!

She turned around. "Blah! Cooties!", she said. They laughed again. Hen bent to her height. "You look a lot like your father, you even got his birth mark", she said. Layla smiled and nodded. "Yep, it's the Buckley birth mark", she chirped. Hen just awed. She was so adorable. "Hugy!", Layla yelled. She hugged hen. Which surprised the woman. Oh yeah this definitely bucks kid. Hen wrapped her arms around the little girl.

Things were starting to get back to where there supposed to be. But now with a new addition to the firefam.
