papier-mâché is fragile if you didn't already know

40 10 1

it's as though
each of my ribs
weigh a million
pounds.

and as gravity
pulls them into
the earth, i
feel them crush
my little heart.

creating more pieces
i can't possibly
pick up and glue
back together again.

i've glued these pieces
so many times that
they've lost their
initial shape,
and no longer
fit.

i don't know
how much longer
i can keep
doing this,
i'm going to
run out of
glue soon.
