YOUR POV
The next morning I woke up and was eating breakfast when I saw Hopper was happier than usual. I shrugged my shoulders, assuming it was nothing and continued to eat until I realized Mike was running late. I got up and waited but soon grew impatient and I walked out onto the porch
"Where is he...?" I whispered to myself and groaned softly, my hands running threw my hair. I sighed heavily before pushing the door open and waking to the white phone that was pinned to the wall
"Hey, everything okay?" Hopper asked and I nodded, dialing the numbers
"Yes" I sighed and put the phone to my ear while I stood there
The phone rang twice before Mrs. Wheeler picked up
"Hello, this is the wheelers" his mom said happily
"Is mike there?" I asked
"Yeah just a sec-.... MIKE! PHONE!" She yelled. At first no one picked up so I stood there. Finally, I heard someone on the other line pick up
"Hello?" Mike said and I sighed, walking to my bed
"It's 9:32 where are you?" I asked concerned
"Sorry- I-I-I was just about to call, I um, canr see you today-" he started and I stared out my bedroom window confused
"Why not?" I asked raising an eyebrow
"It's my nana, she's very sick" he said
"But Hopper said that your nana was okay, that it was just a false alarm" I said and he was silent for a small second
"Yeah, that's what we though, it was... at first. But then she took a real turn for the worse.." he said and my face softened
"Oh.."
"Yeah we think she might... die" Mike said and immediately his mother spoke in
"What??" She said confused and concerned. Something didn't seem right about it
"MOM GET OFF THE PHONE! HOW MANY TIME?!" Mike yelled and I was taken back
"DID NANA CALL??" She yelled back
"NO MOM! JUST GET. OFF. THE. PHONE" he yelled and then there was a click on the other end
"Sorry a bout that" he sighed and I shook my head, furrowing my eyebrows
"Was that your mom?" I asked
"Yeah, she's so upset she's making no sense. Because we have to go to the nursing home, to see nana" he said and I stood there not really believing him
"You can come over after...?"I suggest
"NO! I mean,I-I just think I need to be alone today. With my feelings..?" He said and i sighed
"Did you lie?" I asked and he scoffed
"What?! No! Friends don't lie- WHAT MOM?my moms calling me, better go. Talk to you tomorrow. Miss you already. Bye-" then all of a sudden the phone was off the hook. I stood there in disbelief
"What?" I exhaled heavily to myself as El just looked over to me
"Mike lies" she said and I looked at her then at my bed
"I'm starting to believe that" I said and she just opened up her magazine again. I walked out to put the phone back on the hook
"Hey, what's going on?" Hopper asked and I just ignored him, pushing my hand out and slamming my bedroom door shut.
I sat on bed and sighed, leaning backwards while listening to the music playing. Hopper had left for work so I laid there alone while El was reading her magazines. Maybe Max would know what to do. I mean after all she has a boyfriend too. Not that I don't know anything about having a boyfriend, i just think maybe asking max would be smart.

I walked to Max's house and saw her skateboarding, doing tricks and shit. She messed up and her board got away from her, coming right to me. I put my foot on the end and it came up and I grabbed the other end handing it to her
"Hey Max" I smiled and she smiled back
"Thanks" she smiled and there was an awkward silence for a moment. We used to be best friends but then her and Lucas actually started doing couple things and we kind of drifted a little. But I still considered her my best friend.
"Can we talk?" I asked and she looked at me, bringing me to her room
"So what do you... need?" She asked holding her board
"Mike..." I sighed, and told her everything that I could

"Then he said he missed me" I sighed, sitting on her bed as she paced back and forth "and then he just... hung up on me" I frowned
"He's a piece of shit" she said
"What?-" I said but she cut me off
"Mike doesn't have Jack shit to do today and his nana obviously isn't  sick! I bet him and Lucas are playing Atari right now" she said and looked me dead in the eye
"But Mike wouldn't lie. Like El says- friends don't lie-" I said but she shook her head
"Yeah well boyfriends lie. All. The. Time" she said and I frowned
"They do?...."
"Yes" she said sitting with me
