everything you need to remember from first year that's still relevant/may be referenced here on out
(this is mainly for the readers who need a little refresh after the year without an update but by all means you obviously may read it as well if your new just so that you're all caught up or in case you've forgotten anything<3)
HCG 1- chapter 1
"first year; the girl who got mail"
-for the first time, we meet y/n
-an 11 year old girl who has been sleeping behind various shops on the streets of london for nearly a year now.
-she bravely escaped from her horrible living situation with her abusive parents because she was tired of living in constant fear
-she thinks the only person in her life that's seemed to genuinely care for her was her grandfather, who visited often when she was young and only when her parents weren't home, but the visits slowed down when she turned 7 before finally stopping altogether
-she receives her hogwarts letter by an owl who she hesitantly follows as it leads to to diagon alley
-and that's where her journey begins.
HCG 1- chapter 2
"first year;gringotts"
the owl leads y/n to the leaky cauldron
there she meets, for the very first time, Harry Potter.
she says that her heart skips a beat the first time they meet eyes
hagrid takes them to gringotts, wizard bank, and tells a goblin that the two children care to make a withdraw but the goblin has no record of a y/n l/n
hagrid speaks privately with the goblin and all seems to be well... curious
y/n then panics because she has no key to her vault but hagrid points out that she does in fact have one on the chain around her neck
the necklace had been a gift from her grandfather... hmm curious
from rags to riches, y/n discovers "hundreds of thousands of coins" in her vault and wonders how it got there
HCG 1-chapter 3
"first year; diagon alley"
-ollivander knows y/n's name before she even has to tell him, but while she finds it weird, he had done the same to harry so she determines that he himself is just a weird guy in general
- he immediately knows what wand to give her
-"a wand like this requires great responsibilities. this wand is one of the most powerful in our world. only an extremely talented wizard can use this wand. and when it comes the time, you must choose, choose what kind of wizard you will be. this wand will decide your fate, i hope you choose well,"
-she can't help but feel the speech is rather personal
-later hagrid gifts the children owls and y/n names her black owl with icy blue eyes ROSE
HCG 1-chapter 4
"first year;hogwarts express"
-harry and y/n trust one another enough to share their stories with each other, earning a new respect and a deeper connection between the two
-here y/n meets ron weasley and hermione granger who immediately pass the vibe check
-y/n thinks she and hermione would make a good pair "the genius and her misfit sidekick"
-for the first time in 11 years, she feels as though she belongs
HCG 1-chapter 5
"first year;the sorting hat"
-the sorting hat begins calling out slytherin despite only being placed on y/n's head for a second
-it then, for the first time ever, hesitates, instead placing her in gryffindor
HCG 1-chapter 6
"first year;the new best friend"
-hermione granger comes to y/n's rescues for the first time, providing her with a pair of pajamas to sleep in along realizing she hasn't got any for herself
-y/n knows immediately the two will stay a pair for a long, long time
HCG 1-chapter 9
"first year;the ultimate series of events"
-seems like y/n would make a fair beater
-THE oliver wood seems to think she could go pro
-he promises to work with her on her flying so that come fred and george's graduation, she'll be more than ready to take their place
