Bakugous heat had ended the next morning, and their lives went back to 'normal' one would say.
Bakugous constant attitude was back, and Kirishima went with the flow and fell into rhythm with his old self. It was odd to anyone that knew that the two were mates. They trained like everything was the way things were before they found out about their fates. The following week was hell, catching up on school, and the confusion from whatever the hell they were to eachother clouded their minds. What were they? Were they just mates? Both hated the thought but neither confronted the other and parted ways at the end of the day. Bakugou found his bed was cold without the redhead, and the redhead felt all too lonely for having a mate next door, but still neither did anything. Bakugou secretly hated the decision that he made to leave the redhead behind for his facade of the 'badass' at school. All he really wanted was his stupid alpha who only seemed to fall into motion. He hated that he couldn't push his feelings to the side for Kirishima, he despised himself for it. Kirishima had his issues with the situation at hand, he felt lonely. His mind had literally been blank for almost a week with no thoughts, and nothing from the blonde. No noise, no thoughts, just nothing. He hated this, he had a mate. His mate was next door, and was his best friend, and he couldn't even place his finger on why they were acting the way they were. The only explanation he could think of was if the blonde didn't want him to be his alpha and that this was his way of letting him down easy. That didn't set very well on his shoulders. Was he not fit enough? He 'normal'ly would've cut the thought off there, as if this had happened forever. The constant feeling of rejection drained him, but he pushed through doubling his workouts to make sure that him being fit enough wasn't an option. Was it that Bakugou wasn't gay? This was all he thought, and not all in one setting. Thoughts like these would plague his mind through out his day, he had found that he couldn't even simply finish his lunch by the end of the week. He was exhausted. He worked out before school, tried to learn something and wouldn't, and have to barrow notes from Iida or Midoriya, and even though both were smart they were a little too smart for him. Then when school was over he'd walk to his dorm and workout some more pushing the exhaustion back until he was done, and then to put icing on the cake he'd stay up all hours of the night doing his homework. Then go to bed to wake up at the ass crack of dawn with the utmost feeling of restlessness. He hated this, this wasn't healthy and he knew that. He knew that he would crash, and when he did, he'd crash hard. But he refused to reach out to someone who wasn't going to try...
Bakugou had the same sleep schedule as the redhead but his activities were different. He'd take his notes in class, skip lunch to go to the roof some more notes go to his dorm and do anything he possibly could to destract him from the constant clinking for mettle on mettle from the room next door. When said clinking would stop which was late at night, he would do his homework. He was a smart kid, but with no one around he could let that facade fall and he could express how tired he was. He struggled with his homework most nights now, just simply because he had literally no one to destract him. Then he'd go to bed in his seemingly never warm bed and toss and turn most of the night. His pillow still smelt of Kirishima but that didn't really help, it smelt like him but it simply wasn't... Him. After the restless slumber he would get up and continue on with his morning workouts with the redhead only for his days to repeat. He thought about it allot, so much that he'd get distracted mid- sentence and write what he was thinking. This made his notes hard to keep up with. The redhead sat right next to him, and he couldn't even bring himself to reach out to him. He would love to put the blame on his pride, but damnit that wasn't an excuse. Everyday the redhead looked more and more restless, he was an open book could never lie to anyone. And he shoved it off like he didn't care when everyone asked him if he was ok, when in reality he probably cared the most. It seemed as if Kirishima didn't care. He let omegas all over him, mina would be sitting in his lap one minute and the next be flirting with him. It bothered him. But if the alpha wanted someone else who was he to stop him?
The misunderstanding only grew as the mated pair refused to do anything about it, thinking that the other wanted someone else. That was until they ran into each other. This was how. The bystanders of the class had watched the two fall apart nearly killing everyone in sadness along the way, the best friendship in the entire class happened to be mated and them mated came between them. They couldn't watch anymore. It had taken allot of convincing for Kirishima to come down to the common room, and on the way didn't question if anyone had invited the blonde. Kirishima called it a night early, and ironically enough the blonde came down the stairs not soon after Kirishima took the elevator. Uraraka shook her head looking over at Asu who sat next to her who shared the same sad look. The common room had fallen silent when everyone had seen Bakugou. He looked like shit. Mina messaged Uraraka saying how she was gonna get the two back together, Uraraka didn't question it, she wanted it too. Mina tapped away on her phone before jumping up.
"Bakugou!?" The blonde simply peeked around the corner with one eyebrow raised.
"What?" His ever grumpy voice came before he went back to doing what he was doing.
"Did you hear? How's Kirishima?" He stepped away from the counter fully looking at the pink girl that looked down at her phone every few minutes.
"What do you mean 'how is he'?" His scoul was present as if it had never left. Mina walked across the room to stand in front of Bakugou.
"The kid is struggling Bakugou. He isn't sleeping he isn't eating-" She was cut off.
"What? How long?" His eyes were big and his hands shook. Mina looked at him with a sad look.
"A week, give or take?" Her voice was small but she knew by the look on his face he understood.
"Bakugou he's not doing so well, he fell asleep down here so we sent him upstairs." It wasn't a lie.
"How bad?" Bakugou had mellowed out.
"What?" Mina was shocked.
"From 1-10 how bad is he? He's not sleeping but he's not sleeping through class he's working out every morning and every-" Bakugou stopped mid sentence turning around and jogging up the stairs multiple at a time how had he not noticed before?. In the mean time Mina stood there dumbfounded. She had a message for Kirishima already typed out, as Bakugou turned away she sent the message it being read almost immediately afterwards.
Kirishima came barreling out of his dorm room running down the stairs he didn't care about the possibility of falling down them as he jumped barely landing on the edges of the steps. He heard steps coming his way just as fast as his and slowed just barely. He looked down towards his feet when he passed said person. A few steps down he flipped around to see Bakugou doing the same.
"You-" They said in union pointing their fingers at each other.
Bakugou was the first to snap.
"You shitty alpha!" He screamed his voice carrying down the stairs and up the remaining two flight going up.
"Me?! Your the stupid omega who can't seem to keep your pride and your priorities straight!" Kirishima didn't mean to, it slipped out. The first time he talks to his mate in what felt like weeks and they were yelling at eachother on the stairs.
"Me? Noo." Bakugou looked down before looking back up with anger flashing across his face.
"Your the one who can't seem to put yourself first every now and then!" Bakugou was walking down the stairs towards Kirishima.
"You expect me to want an alpha who can't put himself before everyone else?! You expect me to come running when you turn you back?!" He was pissed to no end.
"You expect me to be your 'stupid omega'?! Fuck you! Just because I'm 'your omega' doesn't mean I'm your fucking caretaker!" Bakugou was in front of Kirishima poking him in his chest hard enough to make him start walking down the stairs some.
"Your the one who can't set your damn pride aside! Your the whole reason we're in this mess! If you don't want me as your damn alpha then just spit it the fuck out! And I'm oh so sorry I put what I thought MY omega wanted first! You stupid stupid omega!" Kirishima turned around running his hands through his hair walking down a few steps then stopping before turning around with tears welling in his eyes. He walked up the steps back to Bakugou.
"You may be a stupid omega, but you are mine. Anyone else lays a hand on what's mine, then there will be hell to pay." He didn't raise his voice, but it showed the dominance. Bakugous inner was freaking out, he wanted so bad to kneel infront of him, but just like before; he had one hell of a chip of pride on his shoulders.
"What's yours? Then prove to me what's yours." Bakugou was almost curtain that he didn't make any sence, but was rolling with it anyway. Kirishima busted out laughing taking a step down before wiping his forehead.
"Yea?" He looked demonic, his eyes showed nothing but the alpha that had resided in him, and he had a crooked smile on his face.
"Yes you shitty alpha!" Anybody else would be terrified of the Kirishima in front of him, but he refused. He was gonna get his alpha in check, even if that meant breaking him. He refused to bow to an alpha who couldn't control himself.
"You expect me to want an alpha who can't protect me?" Bakugou knew that this was going to shatter the alpha when he came through, but that's all he needed- his alpha. Kirishimas head snapped up and pure sadness washed over him, and the first place it met was his eyes.
"I-i can protect my omega." His voice was quiet, but with the empty mettle stair case it echoed.
"Then prove it to me. Prove it to me Kirishima." Before Bakugou could say anything more Kirishima was infront of him with his head down. Bakugou by now had noticed a change in Kirishima from when he lost control and when the beast was caged inside. Kirishima didn't have control yet and all he really wanted was for the real Kirishima.
"Give me my alpha back." He was quiet and he was surprised when rigidness could be seen from the alpha in front of him.
"What are we? Damnit Bakugou don't play me." Kirishima looked up with a Sturn look.
"Because i- I want you to be my stupid omega not anyone elses." His voice didn't break but his eye contact did.
"I want-" Bakugou was cut off.
"Make sure whatever you say is what you really want, because I want this. I can't stand... Not having this. If you don't want this stop it now." Kirishimas voice lost volume the more he showed his emotions.
"I want this Kirishima. I'll be your stupid omega, just..." He looked down, he was still processing the fact that Kirishima had lost to his alpha in the blink of an eye becoming a demonic figure in front of him.
"You scared the shit out of me Kirishima. I-i what the hell was that? One minute you were here and the next you were gone. Kirishima whatever just happened... It can't happen again." Kirishima looked down in defeat, he knew Bakugou was right he always was. He let his anger get the best of him and his anger just so happened to be his inner dressed in a costume. He nodded his head, not looking up at Bakugou. Truth be told he was on the verge of tears, he couldn't believe he lost control at a time like this. This image of Bakugou walking away from him flashed in his head and he knew what the meant. The tears he was holding back slowly slid down his face landing on the mettle floor beneath him; he had almost lost his omega. That thought destroyed him.
Bakugou watched the scene before him. He didn't know what to do, he was still slightly scared of him. What if Kirishima lost his temper towards Bakugou? He considered reaching out but his instincts were telling him not to, so he didn't. He heard the dull pang of Kirishimas tears landing on the otherwise quiet staircase, each one bringing more of a realization. Kirishima really didn't know what had happened, he was doing fine until got told to prove himself. That was when he lost control, this had never happened before, he always kept the beast inside at arms distance so it wouldn't hurt anyone and here he was. He reached forward wrapping his arms loosely around Bakugou with his head resting in the small of his chest. The motion shocked Bakugou at first, and then he made possibly the biggest mistake he ever could...
He really considered to hug Kirishima back, but he hesitated. Kirishima felt the fear and uncurtainess coming off of Bakugou in waves, and he pulled away. Bakugou hit himself over and over again in his head when it had set in why Kirishima pulled away. He hesitated, he really hesitated, with his alpha, he doubted his alpha. This hurt him, as all he really wanted was Kirishima to be back in his arms. Kirishimas hands rested on Bakugous hips as he slowly looked up. His cheeks were red and his eyes were too. He leaned in and kissed Bakugous cheek before unlatching himself from him completely, resting his head on the blondes shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." The redhead whispered pulling away and walking around Bakugou back up the stairs that he had sprinted down awhile ago. When he had one more flight before the dorms Bakugou ran up the stairs. He ran as fast as he could on his un- shoed, socked feet tripping on the way up. When he got to Kirishima he wasn't surprised when the redhead didn't stop walking nor did he turn around. Bakugou latched himself to Kirishimas back making the boy stop.
"Don't..." Was all Bakugou could say, his lungs burned and his legs were sore. His chest hurt the most, and for the first time in a long time, his inner was silent.
