Paper these four walls with our print,
a lovely shade of happiness
or dark resentment in rotting sheets.
I'll let you choose how to display
the complexities of all we are,
our summary to show to those who visit.
Be careful not to damage what's there,
or the pieces will flake off and stick
to our walls like trapped ghosts.
Leaving the past intact may be the hardest
part of your task, but if you remember
why you do this, we will survive.
