Everything has changed. I’ve changed. Even though my jet black heart is partly still within me, I’m turning it around, using it to save those around me, my family and my friends.
It wasn’t Ms. Morrell that made my mind change, nor was it my own will. All of this is down to Astrid. She risked her life for me, died for me. She saw beyond everything I have done. She saw beyond my lack of humanity.
I owe my life to her but as I can’t really give her my life I’ll do the next best thing. I’ll be myself. I’ll be Luna Marcella Hale, the hybrid. All for Astrid Lafayette. The girl who saw the light in this deep sea of darkness that consumes me every single day of my life. She saw a flicker of light, a flicker of hope. She heard a heartbeat. And had a glimpse of one too.
I’ll do this for her, and maybe one day others will see the heart, and maybe it'll grow and beat a little more, one day.
