"Ashlyn-wake up!" someone said.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes, before looking around seeing Shawn sitting on my bed.

"Oh, hey," I said.

"Look I'm so sorry about yesterday, the fans mobbed me and took me really far past the exit, and then it was hard to get out, and then when I finally did, my phone died on me, so I couldn't call you and-"

I put my hand on his mouth, smiling. "It's fine. I understand!"

His face visibly relaxed. "Thank you. How'd you get home anyways?"

I looked out the window. "Cam."

His jaw clenched, but so slightly that anyone could have missed it. But he smiled immediately and nodded. "I see."

"Yeah, now let me get ready and I'll meet you downstairs for breakfast."

He nodded again, and walked out the door.

Oh god, what do I wear?!

After taking a shower, and brushing my teeth, I pulled out some clothes I'd unknowingly put in my bag, but then I realized Kayla must have put them in. Sneaky, but such a good friend.

Remembering I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her, I called her and I asked her to come over, but she was going up north for a while with her family.

Her family was always so happy together, it made me feel really happy for her to be blessed with such great people surrounding her, because she deserved it. But, then when I remembered mine, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness.

My dad died of cancer when I was only three. It'd been tough on both my mom and me. She'd shut herself away and I'd always be at the neighbors for days on days. I didn't really understand at that age what was going; I'd always ask my mom when my dad was going to come home from his vacation. She'd just look at me sadly and smile.

Eventually, she told me when I turned 8, when I'd figured out he wasn't coming home anytime soon. I had cried for days, weeks, months, and even now, I still find myself with tears thinking of what my life would have been like had he been here.

But I was proud of my mom. She'd pushed forth to get better and be there for me. And I was really thankful for that.

Anyways, enough of my sad story.

I slipped on my clothes, and walked downstairs. On the way down, I bumped into that blonde kid, who I'm pretty sure was the other Jack. He smiled at me. "Hey."

"Hi. Jack...J right?"

He nodded. "Yup. So are you and Shawn, like together or something?"

God, straight to the point. I blushed. "Wh-what, no!"

He smirked. "Won't be long."

"What do you mean?"

He winked and kept walking.

Guys are weird.

I sat down at the table next to Shawn, who seemed to be enjoying a really delicious-looking muffin. He saw me and laughed. "Want one?"

"Yes!"

"Well you can't have one. If there's one thing I don't share, it's the muffins."

I visibly pouted, and he laughed again. "I'm just kidding, they're in the kitchen."

I grabbed one and sat back down in front of him.
