Natasha's POV
On the afternoon of the 21st of October, Natasha, Clint, and the other Avengers made the Avengers Tower especially nice, ready for Ellie to come and visit on her excursion. Bucky brushed his hair for the first time in a year, Steve wiped all of the windows until they sparkled, and Fury changed his name on the groupchat from "Motherfucker" to "Mothertrucker."
Ellie had texted Natasha excitedly the night before:
Ellie
IM SO EXCITEEEEEEED!!!!!!!

Natasha had expected a similar conversation to go ahead early in the morning, but when she checked her phone after she'd woken up, her messages had been blank. Empty. Nothing, from Ellie, or from anybody else, which made her feel two emotions:
1): worried about Ellie.
And 2): worried about herself because she didn't have any other friends outside of the Avengers besides Ellie.
One hour later, still nothing.
And now, at roughly 2 o'clock, there was still no tiny little notification, not on any of the group chats or otherwise, and Ellie hadn't shown up for her excursion.
The Avengers, who had been waiting in the briefing room, had all disappeared after still no sign of Ellie, and were now communicating via text, as Bucky couldn't form words properly after what Tony had done to him.
