Bio:
James Baker was born on a farm in Denver, Colorado, on February 24th, 1922. His dad was a US Army veteran, who served in World War 1, and when he came home, he brought the war with him. His father was very abusive towards James and his brother, Robert. Robert was James's older brother, and Robert was just as abusive towards James as their father was. In High School, James was the wide receiver for the football team. After he graduated, he enlisted in the United States Army, and in basic training he joined the 101st Airborne, and he was first stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. On December 7, 1941, the Attack on Pearl Harbor happened, and James was able to witness it all. After Pearl Harbor, Baker was given 6 months of R&R to recover, and in 1942 he was shipped off to Europe to fight the Germans. During Operation Torch, Baker earned the nickname "Ace" by killing 50 Nazi's with their own Kar98k, and killing another 36 with his M1 Garand. In 1943 he took another 6 months R&R and went back home to his family. On June 6th, 1944, he was on the frontline, storming the beaches of Normandy. After that battle, they took a little "vacation" in France, where his squad was sent to help the French Resistance. On Christmas of 1944, Baker saw the Battle of the Bulge, and it was on this mission where James Baker was injured, and he was forced to discharge from the Army. During his leave, Baker went to an Engineering College, but he just wanted to go back out into the action. After College, in 1949, he re-enlisted in the Army, this time as an Officer, and he commanded a 101st Airborne platoon during the Korean War, but in 1952 he was critically injured, and was discharged from the Army, and he could not re-enlist. At the end of his military career, James Baker has earned 4 Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, a Soldiers Medal, the World War 2 Victory Medal, the Europe, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the Korean War Service Medal, and the Medal of Honor.
