Daniel's pov

I'm on my way to LAX airport to pick up someone special... Y/n.

A lot has happened since we first met her on the tour in Barcelona. She'd come to sound check and then our show, and then we'd had to say goodbye. Before we left, I'd gotten her number, and then we'd texted non-stop.

By the time we'd gotten back to LA at the end of tour, I had fallen for her... hard.

"Dude just ask her," the guys had all told me.

I'd finally mustered up the courage exactly one year since we'd met.

[Text messages]

"Hey, Y/n, today's exactly 1 year since we met! Isn't that crazy?"

"Dudeee that's insane!"

"I know... I wanted to tell you something..."

"Yes?"

"Y/n, I really like you"

"WAIT REALLY????  I LIKE YOU TOO and I'm FREAKING OUT RN"

"So am I"

"I'm freaking out more I had to stuff my face in a pillow so as to not scream"

"Aw you're so cute. I was wondering if you would consider doing distance?"

"With you? 100% yes!!"

[End text messages]

That was how our relationship started.

We've been doing distance for a year now... Texting and FaceTiming every single day... Sending each other letters and packages in the mail for birthdays, Christmas, and just because... Planning what we'll do when we see each other in person... Falling more and more in love every day.

Today's the day. Finally we're going to see each other, and I can't wait.

I park the car and get the bunch of flowers I bought for her out of the back seat. My hands are shaking with excitement... I've been waiting for this moment for the whole entire year. Longer even.

Y/n finished her studies. We've been talking a lot about our future together lately... At the moment she's just visiting me, but I think she'll eventually move to LA to be closer to me. As a translator, she should be able to get work here easily. But we will see. All that matters at the moment is I'm going to see her.

I make my way to the arrivals gate. The flight board says her plane has just landed. She said she'd text me when she got through customs.

My phone buzzes in my pocket.

I'm just about to get my bag. I'm so excited to see you. Love you

I quickly text back.

I love you more. I can't wait to hug you

No I just have to wait. I scan the crowds of people coming out the gate looking for her.

Suddenly, there she is. Our eyes meet, and her face lights up. Then she's in my arms. I'm pulling her closer than ever before.

"I love you. I love you," I whisper.

She's crying because she's so happy, and my eyes a misting over.

"Who on earth is cutting onions in an airport," She whispers, making us both laugh.

I give her the flowers and take her bag. We hold hands as we walk to my car, giving each other little squeezes and glancing sideways again and again.

We've barely said a word to each other, but, after a year of words being the only way we can communicate, we don't need to.

We're together in the same place.

Nothing else matters.
