The dark-haired boy shuffled through his keys, its jinggles pierced through the quiet neigborhood. Letting out an exhale, he slowly unlocked his front door, greeted by the eerie silence of his own home. A slight feeling of nervousness made him shiver as he stepped his way in.

His eyes raked across the dark living room, feeling no other presence other than his own. Slipping out of his shoes, little footsteps were heard as it made its way down the stairs.

Jisung gave it a small smile. He kneeled down brushing his long fingers through its golden fur, earning a small whimper.

"Hey big boy," Jisung whispered out with a warm smile. Myke, his dog, basically his company since childhood wiggled its tail, as if it were happy to see him back home. "Where's mom?"

Myke replied with a small bark, in hopes that Jisung would understand his words. The boy sighed, standing back on his feet- walking pass the dog.

The creaking of the wooden stairs made his nose scrunch in discomfort. His eyes trailed towards the hallway- it landing on a white-painted wooden door.

Clearing his throat, he slowly walked towards it- Myke following him from behind. Jisung knocked- as his hand landed on the cold metal handle, turning it as the metal creak brought shivers down his spine.

"Mom?" the boy lowly whispered. A whimper was heard from inside the room, his eyes shifting towards the woman laying down on the uncomfortable-looking bed. Jisung's face softened once he saw his mom's eyes looking back at him.

"Ji, sweetheart" the woman said, giving him a small smile. Jisung slowly walked towards her, sending her one back. "Feeling any better?" he asked as he sat on the bed. "Hm, as usual," she reassured. Jisung replied with a small nod.

"How's your day, sweetheart?" Mira, her mother questioned back. His thoughts were suddenly clouded by this one particular person, but he doesn't want to open up about her. Yet.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Jisung answered simply, "It was okay, I guess."

"Any friends?" she asked as she gently held his hand.

"Nope."

Mira sighed in defeat. She wants her son to have someone to depend on, someone to take care of him, someone who will accept him as who he is. She knows how Jisung acts around other people. She noticed the cold demeanor he radiates that scared people away.

But as a mother, Mira wants the best for him. All her life, she'd dream about how Jisung would find the one. It may be too quick to have thoughts like so, but she couldn't help it. It has been so long since she saw her son's genuine smile. Well not to her at least, Mira's the only person Jisung would die for.

She knew she doesn't have much time left. A year ago, Mira was diagnosed with the last stage of blood cancer. Everything went by so quick. Her cells aren't functioning properly, as her body felt weak as time goes by.

Since then, Jisung was the only one who took care of her. His father's never home, even if he is, he'd be drunk. Jisung never liked his father. He's always been abusive, especially towards his mother.

As a child, he'd witness his parents fighting. In addition of abuse his dad did towards his significant other. Jisung would try to save his mother from harm, yet his father would abuse him afterwards.

The poor boy never lived in peace. His whole life's a total mess. Hence why he cherishes Mira so much, because she's the only source of his happiness. Having the thought of him losing her? Not even a chance. He would do anything to be with her.

Same goes to Mira, she wants him to live happily, with or without her.

On the other hand, it's been a week since he transferred, yet still no friends? Well, Jisung's never been the kind of person to socialize. No one dared to spare a word with him. His cold, taunting gaze was all the impression he left.

Don't get him wrong, people attempted to befriend him. Even so, he would simply walk away. Jisung's attractive, yes, very attractive people say. He had
girls falling on their knees, desperate for his notice. Yet none of them worked. Not even a single spare of glance was given.

What happened to him in the past, led him to this state. He's traumatized, he had gotten sick of the word 'friendship'.

"Go find yourself some friends, Ji," Mira persuaded with concern. "You know I can't stay with you for long.." she trailed off, sadness lingering over her statement.

His eyes that were on the floor looksd up to her mother's. "Don't ever say that, mom. And I don't need them. They're just gonna leave you afterwards" he sneered, not believing the word 'friendship'.

Mira sighed, defeated by her own son's statement. However, she wouldn't stop convincing him. "You know there are plenty of fishes in the sea, right Ji?" His hard gaze softened, hearing her words. She's right, yet he's too stubborn for it.

He only looked at her. Not wanting to continue the conversation, he slowly stood up, not letting go of Mira's hand.

"Tell me if you need anything, okay?" Jisung said in a soft tone, with a hint of concern. Once again, his mom let out a small sigh, but gave him a warm smile afterwards. "Will do, sir." Jisung chuckled, giving her a small peck on the forehead before making his way towards the door.

"Sleep tight, mom"

With that, he got out of the room, ready to end the day with a pleasant sleep.
