-can basically hear anyone's thoughts if he's looking into their eyes or if he's talked to them
-He ate this fruit in purpose thinking he'd become powerful
-over time he did help a lot with the marines because of his new found power

Backstory:
He went into the marines at a young age, age twenty one to precise. After years of being in the marines, he realized how much he hated it, innocent pirates being killed, a well known corrupt government being given a heavy amount of power, he didn't want to work for people like that anymore so he ended up quitting (people said he retired, assuming he was, since he never told anyone the real reason besides his family.) He then later on decided to run a shop for fabrics and just sewing in general (does mend clothes for people as well.)
He did divorce his wife after this because of relationship complications, arguing a lot mainly, though they ended on good terms and understood their differences (his daughter stays with him on weekends  and ever other holiday.)
