"It's getting late. I should start heading home now."

A small groan is heard, echoing through the eerily silenced night. He tightens his grip around her waist and pulls her onto his lap, a small squeak proceeding from the girl. Above the campfire, the night sky shines brightly, a myriad of dark blues and violets dotted with white sparkling stars, and the smoke from the campfire fills the air. The boy and the girl sit on a log watching the fire, an acoustic guitar precariously leans against it. The crackling of the fire fills the eerily silenced night.

"Stay with me a little longer," he whispers in her ear, pulling her closer until all space between them is non-existent. Not that it was vast to begin with.

"Okay," she says, sealing their lips together in a sweet, loving kiss. Breaking apart, he lifts her off of his lap and grabbed his guitar. Strumming a few notes he began to play a song, softly singing:

Settle down with me
Cover me up
Cuddle me in
Lie down with me
And hold me in your arms

Softly, she begins singing along with him, their melodious voices harmonizing.

And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed to my neck
I'm falling your eyes, but they don't me yet
And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now

Their voices bounced into the quiet and dark night, the only source of light coming from the fire and stars. Flittering about were fireflies, filling the space in front of them like their own personal galaxy. Once again, the boy and the girl became entranced by one another, trapped in their own universe. Their own reality.

Kiss me like you wanna be loved
You wanna be loved, you wanna be loved
This feels like falling in love
Falling in love
We're falling in love

As he strummed the last note on his guitar, the girl leaned forward and pecked his nose.

"I love you," she whispers, a smile tugging at her lips.

"I love you more," he replies, once again capturing her into a loving kiss. And in this moment, time froze, and once again, the couple became lost in each other, oblivious to the whole world. The only thing that mattered in the world to them was each other. She was his and he was hers.

"My parents are gonna kill me if I don't get home soon," she whispers, carefully pulling him back to reality. Entranced by each other's eyes, the two remained in a spell. Slowly he nods, and begins to pack their blankets and his guitar. She carefully takes out the fire, the heat slowly diminishing into the cold eerie night. Grabbing her hand, he leads her to his car, placing their items into the backseat before opening the passenger door for her. Slowly starting the car, he turns to her and smiles, enchanted by the beauty sitting across from him.

"What did I do to deserve an amazing and beautiful girl like you?"

She blushes and tries to hide her smile. Her efforts were in vain as her mouth inched wider until it was a full blown grin.

"Because you are you. And there's nothing more I'd ever ask for," she leans forward and captures his lips on hers before letting go.

"Let's head home."

"Only for you."

He begins to drive away from their hidden paradise out in the middle of nowhere. The radio softly played music, and from what she can hear, it was Green Day, one of their favourite bands. A comfortable silence enveloped the two, the sound of faint guitars filling the air. He continued to drive down the familiar road before suddenly taking a sharp right. Confused, she turns to him.

"Why'd you turn right? The shortcut was straight ahead."

He turns his face and only responds with a smile. Seeing the unsure look on her face, he reaches for her hand and intertwined their fingers, bringing them up to his lips.

"Trust me, love." She couldn't help but smile at the sight of him. She was his love and he was her love.

"I do."

He told her anyway, "I'm just taking the long way home. Because being without you isn't worth it."

He smiles and she smiles back. The couple never left their reality, their own world. They continued down the unfamiliar road, singing to the songs playing on the radio. Reaching a stop sign, he leans over and kisses her passionately. Immediately responding, she kisses back with as much love and passion as the former. Breaking away breathless she asks with a small smile,

"What was that for?"

"I wanted to show you how much I love you. And spontaneous romantic gestures are the best kind."

Her sweet laugh filled the air, followed suit by his deep laughter. And the cycle continued, at every stop sign and every stoplight, he gave her a kiss: on the lips, cheeks, hands, everything. Soon the pair found themselves lost in an unfamiliar place. Pulling over to a hill overlooking the city, he turned the headlights off admiring the beautiful view, as well as the flickering lights of a city that never sleeps. They stayed there, lost in the middle of nowhere on a random hill overlooking the city. But they didn't care, for they had each other. No matter where they were, as long as they were together, it was them against the world. Nothing was ever wrong to the boy and the girl. Because everything happens for a reason. Because everything was in it's place and in it's time.

Because everything was the way it's supposed to be.
