A story where a father stops time to pour his heart out in secrecy.

-----

It was an afternoon like any other. Jolyne, decided to invite you over at her house. You were pretty excited as you never got to hang out at each others' house before. You wondered what her room looked like and you wanted to play with make up with her, among other girly things.

You were giddy, but also pretty nervous, as she told you her father would be home. You didn't mind the presence of her dad, you were just getting shy from meeting her parent.

What if he didn't like you and forbade you from seeing Jolyne ever again? What if you messed up and made him angry? What if you made the encounter awkward?

You tried to shake off the negative thoughts as Jolyne walked you to her house, chuckling a bit at your excessive nervousness.

"Relax girl, he's gonna love you. Who wouldn't?" She smirked at you before looking back ahead. "You're a sweet ball of sunshine. Even if he doesn't like you, man fuck him." Jolyne said while holding your hand and you gasped a bit.

"Well I... I don't know, but it's fine, even if he doesn't like me, let's not insult him..."

You were way too nice in the eyes of Jolyne. After all the things she told you about Jotaro, you still couldn't resolve yourself to ressent him in any way. As distant as he could be, he was still her father.

"We're here! Hehehe we're gonna have so much fun!" The bun-haired girl put her keys in the door lock and opened it, welcoming you inside.

"Make yourself at home sweet cheeks~" You giggled at her tone. She was obviously happy to have you, it was absolutely adorable.

You stopped giggling when you felt a strong presence looming over you suddenly and, when you looked up, you were met with the broad chest of none other than Jolyne's dad himself.

You suddenly lost your composure and flinched. Getting extremely flustered, you stuttered out.

"G-good afternoon Mr. Kujo! Thank you for letting me over! It's a pleasure to meet you!"

You bowed deeply as you remembered he was Japanese and probably very strict with customs and politeness. Jolyne twitched and scoffed at this. Again he was ruining everything, and scaring people off.

"Get up." He ordered with a deep voice and you could only obey. "It's nice to finally put a face to your name, Y/N. Jolyne mentions you a lot."

Jolyne blushed in embarrassment and frustration. Why would he say that in front of you?

"UGH! Cut it out already! Y/N, let's go!" She then stomped upstairs towards her room in hope to escape her father's remarks and overall, his presence.

As you were about to follow suit, Jotaro called you out. "Y/N, come here for a second."

You were confused by his sudden request but obliged. He then gently took your hand in his and in an instant, you felt disconnected from reality.

Like a shockwave washed through the entire house, everything around you shifted, like the world had stopped. You looked around your surroundings, confused at what was happening.

The windbell outside the window was no longer blown by the wind. Jolyne was immobile on the stairs and the clock didn't tick anymore.

"Did you... Stop time... Mr. Kujo?"

Of course, you knew Jotaro was a Stand user, Jolyne had told you that much, you just would have never expected such a power from him. And if you were honest with yourself, that was terrifying.

"Don't be alarmed, I'm not going to hurt you." He reassured with a gentle voice, but the words and their implication still scared you. "I did it to tell you something that only you can hear. I didn't know when I would have the occasion again, so I'll do it now."

You stared into his serious blue eyes that seemed so exhausted, like the man had seen everything. You nodded your head silently, a bit worried at what he could possibly need to say.

"I'm listening..." There was a pause, and his gaze softened on you as he let out a small sigh.

"Thank you for always taking care of my Jolyne for me, Y/N."

"Huh?"

"I could never give her what you give her. She always talks about you with a spark in her eyes that's only there when the topic is about you."

You gasped, shocked at what you were hearing and he continued, squeezing your hand shakily.

"I'm no care giver. I probably wasn't made to be a father, but you make my daughter so happy. I'm eternally thankful towards you..."

You felt a pinch in your heart at his confession. Where those his feelings? How long did he keep this bottled inside him? This was just so sad.

You didn't know much about Jotaro, his personality or his past, but you knew he didn't deserve to feel that way. And having to result to stopping time to let his feelings out brought tears to your eyes.

"Mr Kujo..." You shakily called, "I love Jolyne with all my heart, but I know I'll never love her as much as you do. You were made to be a father, because you are one. Jolyne has only you, I could never replace you."

You grabbed his hand holding yours with your free one and patted it soothingly as you noticed his gaze getting more and more empty with every word you said.

"You are an amazing parent, because you raised Jolyne to be the beautiful woman that she is today."

He closed his eyes and sighed. Jotaro Kujo was so unreadable and mysterious, you didn't know what to do.

"You're a good girl, Y/N..."

And just like that, you felt the world shift back, and the Earth started spinning again. Only this time, the man before you was gone. The phantom warmth of his hand fading as you were left to stare at the wall.

You heard the voice of Jolyne call out to you as she noticed you, standing aimlessly at the entryway with your hands stretched out.

"Hey what are you doing? Ugghh did he just stop time to disappear on you? Pfftt, he always does that, so fucking annoying." Jolyne grunted as she went back to climbing up the stairs.

You followed her, but not without turning around one last time, hoping to catch a glance at the misunderstood man. But he was gone.

You spent the rest of the day with Jolyne smoothly, without her knowing of what had transpired that day.
