Chapter Seven: Bright

Julie's POV:

Okay, today is the day of the performance. I jump out of my bed, and I slip on some clothes. I grab my backpack, and I run down to the kitchen. "Whoa Julie, what's the rush? It's only 7:30, school is not until 9:00!" my dad says to me, "Yeah dad I know, but I promised the guys that I would meet up with them at Luke's house to fit in one or two more practices before the show today" "Oh I see, okay. So, are you guys going to walk to school or..." "Yeah dad we're gonna walk, and I promise I won't be late. Because I know that you and Tia are either going to get a phone call, or an email. And I really don't want that happening AGAIN. Remember what happened last time? She literally gave me a lecture." I say, "Heh oh yeah I remember that. She made me stay for the whole thing. It was terrible. You better not make me go though that again." my dad says to me, "Yeah I know it's not going to happen. She kinda scares me. Anyways, the guys are waiting for me. I'll see you after school! Bye dad!" I say as I give him a hug. I walk over to Luke's house and I ring the door bell. The door swings open and I see Luke, "Hey Jules!" he says with a smile. "Hey Luke." I say to him. He leads me to his garage and I see Alex and Reggie setting up. "Hey Julie! You ready to start practicing?" Reggie asks me, "Heh yeah I think I'm ready." We begin to practice.

Luke's POV:

"Oh, guys it's 8:45, we should probably get going. We don't want to be late for school." Julie says. We clean up everything, and then we leave. "So, Julie, are you okay?" I ask her, " Uh, yeah I'm totally fine. I'm just scared that I'm gonna mess up, and humiliate not only myself , but you guys to so yeah, I am doing amazing." she says with a smile. "Hey it's okay to be nervous Jules," I say to her, "Yeah, When we play gigs and stuff, I'm pretty sure we are always nervous, but we try to calm ourselves down. Here we'll show you what we do. Okay so close your eyes, and think of something that makes you happy, and then breath in and out slowly. Now open your eyes." Reggie says to her, "Wow, thanks guys I feel a little more calm now." she says to us with a friendly smile. "Anytime." we all say together.

When we get to school, we hear that the spirit day assembly is first thing in the morning. We all rush to the gym, and get everything set up. Since our group is the only one that is using the stage, we were able to set everything up in advance. This girl named Vanessa and her group called, "Dirty Candy" went first. She is the most popular girl in the school, and she was dating the lacrosse team captain, Nick. Until they broke up because of some arugment, which they had in the cafeteria in front of every single person in the music program. "Thank you Dirty Candy!" our principle says. "Okay we're up next." I look to my left and I see Julie shaking like crazy. "Hey Jules, are you okay?" I ask her. "Yeah you look really nervous, like yack in a bowl nervous." Alex says to her. "Remember Julie, breathe." Reggie says to her. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath in and out and then says "Okay guys, let's rock this spirit assembly." We all run out and Julie begins to play the piano and sing:

When we finish preforming everyone claps and cheers. "Thank you Julie, Luke, Reggie and Alex, that was an amazing performance! So next we have..." we all walk off the stage and I say, "Guys we crushed it! I knew that you could do it Jules!" "No, I knew that we could all do it. Thanks guys for helping me calm down. It helped a lot." "Anytime Julie, anytime." Alex says to her with a smile. "Well we should probably go to the gym and watch the rest of the performances." say. We all leave backstage, and find our seats.
