"Moriko was someone important to me. She was a demon slayer, and I loved her. Long ago, I killed her because I loved power more."

After hearing those words come out of his mouth, you didn't have the strength to say anything. You opened your mouth to say that stealing a life was wrong, no matter what you wanted, but you labeled yourself a hypocrite. You knew for a fact that you were guilty of stealing lives-- demon lives, especially to rare demons that showed compassion at the very end.

It was like Kokushibo knew what you were thinking. Just by looking at you, he knew what was on your mind. Two enemies sitting beside each other was strange enough. "I don't think you loved power. I can hear that you are scared. You're scared because you lost her." You know you should've been angry at him for killing innocent humans, but then again, you were the same as well. Instead of hunting down humans, you tracked down demons like him to defend humans.

The two of you weren't different from each other, and you knew that for a fact. "You can tell by that? You do not know me at all." He had to admit that he was surprised by your words. Three days ago, you wanted to kill him, and now you were having a normal conversation with him by ignoring the fact he was an enemy.

"I did know you a long time ago in a different body. Your attacks and breathing form told me that you used to be a demon slayer. Am I wrong?"

Your instincts told you that he used to be a demon slayer because you didn't witness him using a blood demon art throughout your fight. In response, he nodded his head and stood up, dusting off his hakama pants before looking down at you. "Come with me." Without a moment of hesitation, he began walking away, motioning you to follow him, which caused you to raise an eyebrow at him.

Well, shit.

You thought to yourself, sighing softly before getting up from the grass to follow after him. It was almost sunrise, so it wouldn't hurt to see what he wanted, right? As naive as it was, you decided to follow him. As you walked beside him, you felt that this part of the forest was familiar to you. The clearing was the start of Kokushibo's love and ended when you became her reincarnation.

All you could rely on for a source of light was the moon, so you grabbed a piece of his kimono, guiding you through the forest. As soon as you arrived, you saw a field with trees surrounding the two of you. Noticing a small flicker of light nearby, you didn't hesitate running towards it, picking up your kimono to run. As soon as you began running, numerous fireflies flew into the air, their light illuminating the darkness.

A laugh left your lips as you attempted to catch one of the fireflies but failed to do so. As he watched you with a small smile, he leaned against a tree, watching you laugh and childishly chase after multiple fireflies. As strange as it was for someone like him to show an enemy this spout to catch fireflies, he had been lonely this whole time. It was like you both had been friends for a long time despite the short time you spent together when you were supposed to be enemies.

For just tonight, you decided to forget about Kokushibo being the enemy. "Koku, come on. You're taller than me, so come help me catch the fireflies." You called him over, smiling at him even though it was a strange sight. Although his actions couldn't excuse that he was a horrible person, and he accepted that. He decided to walk over to you to catch a firefly for you.

When he reached for a firefly, he was sure to be gentle and hand it to you once he caught it so you could hold it in your palm for only a few seconds. Without knowing, he decided to take in that smile of yours. He knew that one day, you would have to fight him again and become enemies once more. Whatever time you had left with him, he wanted to see your smile once more after years of being alone and working under Muzan as a loyal Upper Moon.

He reached out his hand and tucked a few strands of hair behind your ear without realizing what he was doing since it was a common habit of his long ago. At first, you flinched at his touch until you realized that he was only tucking your hair behind your ear. "I apologize if I made you uncomfortable." He pulled his hand away instantly before looking up at the sky to see that the moon was going to set soon. When you noticed why he stared at the sky, you knew that he had to leave soon enough because he was a demon, after all.

"You should head back from where you came. I can go back home once you go." You didn't want to risk him as well as your other enemies knowing where headquarters was, so you stayed in place until you knew that he left. Nodding at your remark, he began walking away from you before turning his head slightly to take one last look at you, furrowing his eyebrows at your bandages and current state after your fight with him. As much as he tried his best not to care, he used to be human, after all.

"Go on. I'll make it home safely."

You reassured him with a small smile, ushering him to go, so you walked over to him and began pushing him. Sadly, he didn't budge at all because he was taller and stronger than you. "You do realize you are injured. I apologize for harming you during our fight. I do not want you to harm yourself further if you continue to attempt to push me."

You knew he was right, but you stubbornly tried to push him because you didn't want him to find out where the headquarters was located or have him get burned by the sun. "I know, I know! I don't want you getting burned by the damn sun, so you gotta move!"

Before you could continue, he turned around and stopped you by placing his hand on your shoulders to make you stay in place. He then turned you around and gave you a small nudge, letting you know that you should be walking away.

"There. Now go."

You looked over your shoulder and pouted when he began walking away from you, so he could give you a chance to walk away. A small sigh left his lips as he continued to walk. He thought that would be the end of your stubbornness and let him go. Unfortunately, you had other plans. You wanted to get to know him for who he was instead of who he was working for.

As much as you cursed your soul for being this soft towards him three days ago, you didn't realize how fun it was to talk to him and smile at him. You knew how stupid it was to get close to a demon-- let alone an Upper Moon. Just like you, there was a pit of loneliness in the deepest abyss of your heart.

Even when your heart belonged to another, you felt bad that he had to suffer for years after his lover's death. You thought of an idea that you knew he couldn't refuse. Perhaps the two of you could stargaze around this time of night again.

"You better meet me here again tomorrow night. And you can't deny my request either! It's settled!"

You called out with that dorky smile of yours, causing Kokushibo to stop dead in his tracks to look at you once again. Before he could respond, you walked away from him with your back turned towards him, and he could almost feel you smirking proudly because now he didn't have a choice.

When you disappeared in the trees, Kokushibo sighed and hung his head in shame, shaking his head at your request. Even after years had passed, he still couldn't resist you.

"What exactly am I going to do with you?"
