Chapter 3

Kelani & Serenity's Apartment (July 2020)

Manhattan has always been Kelani's dream city to live in when she was younger and now she had achieved that dream at a very young age and raised her daughter in this city alongside her two yayas who has been with her since she was 6 years old. She couldn't believe that she will be leaving this city in a few days and including this apartment. She was going to miss this but she knew this was for the best, she wanted to be with family again and have Serenity have the childhood that she had when she was growing up.

Kelani was packing up all the pictures that were hanging on the wall while her yaya Dawn was taking care of Serenity and making sure that Serenity doesn't get in the way of her packing. She heard Serenity scream in delight and she wondered why her daughter was happy. Until she heard her yaya say;

"Lani tumatawag ang tita Angeli mo."

"Sige po yaya I'll be there in a minute." she said as she placed the last picture in the cardboard box.

She quickly walked towards the living room where her yaya and Serenity were watching My Little Pony. She smiled and quickly answered the call because she knew her Tita Angeli and Tito Gary were excited to know that she was moving back to the Philippines.

She saw the smiling face of her Tita Angeli, she couldn't help but smile she was excited to move back to the Philippines growing up she lived with her Tita Angeli, Tito Gary, Tito Anthony, and Tita Maricel. She had considered them her second set of parents since her parents and her younger brother were living in Cebu because of her father's work.

"Hi nak! We are so excited to have you and Serenity back home! We told Leila today and she was excited she misses you and Serene so much!" she heard her Tita Angeli say.

She smiled, she was excited to go home and be home with her family as Serenity sat on her lap and saw Serenity wave at Tita Angeli as Serenity said excitedly, "Hi lala! I miss you and pappy! Mommy says we are going back home soon! I also know how to write my name lala and I also pray to GOD always! Also I bought a lot of gifts for Leila and everyone else!"

She saw her Tita Angeli interact with Serenity is the way she interacts with Leila with so much love and excitement as her Tita Angeli smiled, "Hi apo! That's good you are a big girl now and keep praying to GOD always apo. The presents you can give it to us when we see each other okay?  We miss you both!"

She smiled, "Ma, I'll go ahead I need to keep packing but you can keep talking to Serene. But I miss you guys and I can't wait to see you guys!" she said as put Serenity on the floor and got up and blew a kiss to her Tita Angeli as Tita Angeli waved to her.

She left the living room, she heard Serenity scream out, "Pappy! I miss you! Pappy! Do you see Ninong Piolo always? Tell him I miss him!" she said excitedly.

She laughed as she heard her Tito Gary laugh; "Hi apo, I miss you too when I see him I will tell him you said hi okay? Are you excited to move here to the Philippines?" he asked the three-year-old.

As she taped up the boxes of the pictures, she heard Serenity talk about how excited she was to move to the Philippines and was even excited to see their family once again. She couldn't help but laugh, she enjoyed her daughter's laugh and excitement.

She started to take off her clothes from her closet as a photo album fell on the ground, she stopped what she was doing as she saw the photo album cover it was an old picture of Jake and she sighed softly. Jake Ejercito, her first love and someone her first broke her heart. He was someone she saw her future with at one moment in her life but it all changed when Andi came into his life.
