Liz didn't know how she got in this position. All she knew was that Avan had his lips on hers, slowly and very sweetly moving. She was lying on the grass and he was propped up on his elbow as not to crush her. His other hand was at her jawline, tracing the outline of her face like he was painting her in his mind.
She didn't know how it started, but she knew she allowed it. He kissed her and she didn't stop him and now, they were in a full-blown make out session on the damp grass beside a shallow creek. The more Liz thought about it, the more it seemed like a scene straight out of a movie for her. Everything was picture perfect including the fluttery butterflies in her stomach and Avan's warm palm against her face.
When she felt him tilt his head sidewards and trace her cupid's bow, Liz tapped on his shoulder and pulls away. As she opened her eyes, her raging ocean met his quaking earth and there was a warm look that pooled in his eyes. His mouth was slightly agape as he gasped for air as quietly as he could. His lips were now slightly swollen and turned into a slightly brighter shade of pink.
"Why?" she pants as Avan sits up and helps her do the same thing.
"Why what?"
"Oh God," she runs her thumb over her lips, feeling how swollen they've become from all the kissing. "Why'd you do that?"
"I'm sorry," his eyes pan down to his lap as his lips purse, a warm blush seeping onto his cheeks.
"You are?"
Avan's eyes widen at her tone of voice. She sounded so hurt, almost like a child who has just been told that Santa isn't real. He shifts his gaze at her and instantly felt the need to punch himself when he saw her hair curtaining her face as she fiddled with the sleeves of her hoodie. She was just eerily and uncharacteristically silent.
"Baby," he sighs. "I didn't mean it like that."
"No, it's okay," she shrugs, still not looking him in the eye.
Avan brushes her hair away from her face and tilts her face up by the chin gently. He frowns when he sees that her eyes shined with unshed tears. He didn't understand her. She didn't give him a proper answer when he asked for a label but now she was acting all sulky about whatever it was that was upsetting her.
"I'm not sorry about kissing you."
"But you just said—"
"I know what I said," he cupped her face, rubbing his thumb against the apple of her cheek. "But I only said it because I thought you were going to be mad at me for kissing you."
"It wasn't even just a kiss. You were literally making out with me."
"Yeah, and you let me. So, I don't know what you're onto here," he raises both eyebrows at her.
"Yeah, I let you do it and?" she quirks up an eyebrow at him in hopes of veering his attention away from her warm cheeks.
"It was the best thing I've ever experienced in my life," he gives her a goofy smile.
"Ew, you like me," she chuckles.
"Love," he corrects her, hoping he wouldn't ruin things between them. "I love you."
"Ew," she crinkles her nose in feigned disgust, not really knowing how to respond to his casual confession.
Avan doesn't catch the humor in her expression. His lips curl downwards and he nods, swallowing a lump in his throat. He didn't expect her to return his feelings but for her to be disgusted over his love was a little hurtful to say the least.
"We should get going," he looks up to the sky. "It's going to get dark soon."
Liz frowns as he stands up and pats his jeans. He stretches out an arm to help her up but she doesn't take it. Instead, she crosses her arms against her bosoms and stares up at him.
"Liz, come on. Let's go."
"But the sun didn't even set yet."
"Are we really gonna wait for the sun to set before we go home?" he shakes his head. "Let's go. It's going to be cold soon."
"Then, you can hold me," she blinks up at him. "I'd rather much be cold with you than warm and alone."
He lets out a small chuckle at her reference to him. Rejection has never tasted so sweet except with her.
"You want me to hold you?" she nods. "But I love you. Wouldn't you think that's weird?"
"I love you too so it doesn't matter," she shrugs.
His mouth drops open at the casual way she just said that. He squats down and launches himself onto her, making her fall back onto the grass. A soft giggle comes out of Liz as he wraps his arms around her and nuzzles her jawline.
"You love me?" he asks, kissing her jaw.
"Yeah, I just said so."
"You really do?"
"Dude," she rolls her eyes, hitting his shoulder. "I really do. Don't make me take it back."
"Oh yay," he giggles like a little girl against the skin of her neck. "You're my girlfriend now. That's decided."
It was like all the fear in Liz's body left her at his words. There was something about the certainty in his tone or the sincerity in his voice that made her feel secure, like she didn't have to fear his rejection. She felt safe in his arms, or more like underneath him as he was slowly crushing her with his weight.
"Sure," she nods. "But you can still be my best friend though, right? Like a boyfriend and a best friend too?"
"Of course, Baby Lizard," he raises his head up from the crook of her neck and rubs his nose against hers. "Love you."
"Ew, you love me," she chuckles before being silenced by his lips on hers once more.
Underneath a man and against damp grass with the sky slowly changing its colors, Liz finally felt like she was at home again.

*cries in single pringle * I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO CUDDLE ME. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?!Question: do you want Fallon and Liam to have a baby in season 4 of Dynasty?
I honestly don't want her to have a baby until she reaches the peak of her career but if she did, I'd be over the moon.
Hope you enjoyed this. Don't be afraid to comment down your thoughts. Lots of love! Be kind, y'all!
