Five's POV

"No."

"Come on Five! Don't you miss the sound of your axe swinging through the air and into the flesh of an innocent person?"

The Handler. Of course she came back. She came to me once again to kill a man in her way. But I won't give in.

"What is something you want more than anything in the world, Five?"

And I'm giving in.

Dammit.

I sighed. I knew the answer to that question. Beneath the emotionless front and sarcastic remarks of how pointless it was. I needed it. Of course my family gave me this but I was missing something. It was hard to describe, much less understand.

"Two things, Handler. Two things."

"And they are?"

I crossed my arms.

"I want to disappear. From history, from the commission, from everything. I just want the world to see me as a fourteen year old boy. And after this assignment, I'm done."

"Deal." She paused. "And your second request?"

"Why do I get the feeling you already know the answer?"

She chuckled and walked over to a nearby box and sat down.

"I have access to all time, Five. I have see your future even before you started working at the commission."

"What did you see?"

As a time traveler, I know knowing what your future holds is dangerous. But my curiosity got the best of me.

"I saw what you, now, want more than anything in the entire world," she got up and walked over to me before softly pressing her fingers up under my chin. "Love." She whispered.

I tensed up and sighed.

"So what if that's what I want? To be happy? To be loved?"

"As I said before, we're all looking for happy, Five. You just finally realized it."

"So if I help you kill this man, you'll erase me from everything," I looked up at at her as she stepped back. "And you'll help me find someone?"

"Like I said, I've seen your future. I know the woman you so deeply desire to hold, even if you have no idea who it is yet." She said.

"Are you saying you've already met this woman?"

She smirked and started to walk away, ignoring my question.

"June 1st, 1988. Tom Harper. See you here in five minutes." She paused. "Well, my five minutes, not your five minutes."

She handed me a briefcase and sat down on the same box she had earlier. I took the briefcase in my hands and opened it to be engulfed in the familiar, blue, light. I landed in the middle of a street, and it was dark outside. A single lamppost shone brightly in the street.

I was standing outside what looked like an apartment building. Only one light from the building was on when I heard a faint scream come from the top floor. I jumped inside the building and ran to the room the scream came from. I kicked the door down to find the body of the man I had been assigned to kill. Blood covered every inch of his clothes and the carpet floor.

"Shit."

I heard a whisper come from behind me. I jumped away and turned to find a girl around my age, covered in blood. Her h/c hair was stained with red and her clothes dripped with the same substance.

"You did this?" I asked quietly.

She chuckled and nodded.

To be quite honest, I already liked this girl. She walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a rag from the counter. She ran it under the water from the sink and started wiping the blood off from her face.

"I'm just taking a guess here, but by any chance, did the Handler send you?"

"Yeah. Why?"

She smirked.

"I'm y/n." She said as she held out her bloody hand.

I took it before retracting my hand and crossing my arms.

"Five." I said.

"Five what?" She asked.

"That's my name."

"Ah. Strange name." She said as she continued to wipe off the blood from her face.

"I get that a lot."

"I guess you're wondering what's going on. Well, I'm just taking another guess here, did you by any chance ask the handler to help you find, well, a girlfriend?"

"More or less."

"I knew it." The girl wiped some blood from her hands. "The Handler told me if I were to kill this Tom guy, I would be met with a tall but skinny, fourteen year old, time traveling assassin in cute little shorts." She looked me up and down. "I assume that's you?"

"I guess that's me. Did you ask to be set up to?"

"Not exactly. But sure."

I chuckled.

"So is this her weird way of setting us up?" I asked.

"I guess so." She said with a smile.

"So, when we return to 2019, would you mind going on a date with me?" I asked, bowing.

"Not at all."
