11/13/20 - "it's gonna be okay"

33 5 4

instead of sweat your body drips pain. you
try to wipe it away but that only exhausts you more
'til you're fighting a flood of
sharp grief as it washes over you, as it wipes

good memories out with the bad 'til
only one remains--
not the laughter that danced around your eyes, just the
notch in your heart when you realized I am actually astoundingly
alone.

beneath your bones is an
empty place both stubborn and frayed.

only when he insists, when he
keeps on saying it over
and over, only then do
you finally begin to believe.

"it's gonna be okay."
